They were protecting against centralized power, and federal tyranny. The idea behind the 2nd amendment is that the people have power to fight back against a mad king. The founders came from, and fought for freedom from, the monarchies of Europe. Not guns are easily accessible to every single person in the state, without any training or safety requirements, in spite of any mental health condition or age.

your logic is wasted on the majority of Americans though, sadly.

You know what else strikes me as kind of unusual?

That the suspect was even still alive when they breached according to police claims even after that long. Doesn’t actually make any sense.

I wonder if we’ll find out that wasn’t actually true.

I sure hope that they knew for sure the kids werent alive while they were holding the parents in a perimeter outside.

5+ mil members + $50 (tax exempt) annual fee = $250m per year as a starting point

and then i'm sure there's plenty of higher types of memberships and plenty of donations above that. And there's probably more than 5m members, too.
