OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

And we never really got hit hard in prior waves compared to most countries. We just had to shut 'er down because our hospitals were on the brink of collapse.

On the list of daily cases, in addition to Toronto, York and Peel they are going to have to add a column for mbow
I know a few people who caught covid very early and in the alpha wave who had horrible experiences - including a death (plus two other deaths of people I don’t know but who are in my orb - one in her 80s but the other only 50). And outside of the asymptomatic positives I know of in those waves, everybody I know who now has it is far less sick.

I guess what I’m saying is all praise Donald trump for those miracle vaccines.

Anyways - just sharing some real time, real world case information. Dunno about the rest of you but I feel pretty damn comforted knowing I’m going to get it, that most people are having legitimately mild disease and not “I can’t breathe but my oxygen is at 97 so they won’t admit me unless it drops to 96.9” or “fever of 104” or “fucking pneumonia” or “oh shit I’m super dead” sick.

Family member from the US died from delta recently, another family friend here in barrie almost lost her mother in law (icu/vent for weeks) and then her husband got it with mild to moderate symptoms but developed myocarditis on the back end that he is still dealing with.

Those as the worst of the lot in my circles that I'm aware of.

Worst of the lot - and really fucking terrible.

the worst story I have heard about a bout of the flu in my sphere involves my grandmothers great uncle in the 1950s.

My family has a lot of old as fuck people and so far I've known of 3 deaths, 2 were vaxxed. But they were old and frail (the vaxxed ones were in their 70s, other was 80s). My uncle is younger but he caught alpha and delta and was vaxxed, and his delta experience was infinitely worse and he had to be hospitalized.

So far the only omicron people I know haven't got it easy for the most part... At the very least, worse than the mbow 5000 person dataset. Funnily enough the most mild case I know of is in his 70s.

What find a bit interesting is that with all the covid deaths I hear about is, four of my friends and a close relative have died since the start of the pandemic. None of them from covid. In fact I don’t know anyone who has or had covid.

🤞Hopefully it stays that way.
