OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

"Sports venues capped at 1000"

K, this is exactly what I was talking about with my issues with this government.

We knew it wasn't going to stop at 50%. We knew going from 20,000 to 10,000 wasn't going to be enough, but we did the half-measure. Now MLSE has decided which 10,000 people to refund, and they're going to have to do it all over again to go to 1,000, everyone's going to be more miserable with restrictions changing, and you've made the problem worse by allowing 10,000 to gather for weeks longer.

BE. DECISIVE.

Yeah but other governments would have done similar things so it's ok.

I don't quite get what the point of 1000 is. Whats the point of spending the money to open the building to the public at all for the sake of 300k in ticket revenue? May as well just close the building to the public at that point.

are you required to work unmasked?
No. I teach HIIT classes though, and would probably require CPR if I wore a mask of any sort. I had my first member wear a mask during class. It was also an N95 style. They left class and lay down outside of the doors to the studio. I masked up (while class continued) and went to bring them back in to sit down and remove the mask so they could get better oxygen uptake. It was frightening. I told her if she felt safer with the mask to maybe unhook one ear and go stand in the far side of the studio but she absolutely needed to get more oxygen.

And it's not like MLSE will be spreading them out. It will be 1k over 2 sections, maybe 3.

I fear that a huge portion of the anti-vaxxers are going to breeze through this and that I'll...errr...I mean, we will never hear the end of it.
No need to fear it, because it's going to happen.

Take pride in the fact that you both made it though, and that one of you did the responsible thing and didn't rely on the other 80% of the population to keep them safe.

..or just pretend that they secretly got vaccinated, and are unwilling to admit it.

It's literally 1 line you're good, 2 lines you have covid. Not to be rude but do these people also wear a helmet 24/7 because if not they probably should.

Was wondering this myself. Hear any new info about this recently, Dr Presto?

It's airborne. No evidence of surfaces being back on the table. I wish it were the case. That would make things a lot easier.

In the past getting groceries were low risk because if everyone was wearing a mask you'd need like 10-30 minutes of exposure to get infected. Now it seems like that exposure timeline has decreased significantly.

Yeah, lots of people will say they’re careful and not seeing anybody, but then oh yea, cleaning lady, went to sisters house, had the furnace repaired, etc.

it’s tough to cut through the noise

Extremely nerdy thread and probably only interesting for nerds but TLDR: Some nerds are close to calling Omicron a new strain as opposed to just a variant. It's radically different which is why we're seeing a pretty different clinical picture. And it's going to continue to adapt for the rest of time. Plenty of room for it to continue to do so.
