I’m guessing, grain of salt, that many are either held back, in quarantine or isolating, or possibly fresh from infection? It could be a large spike but it could maintain as well

Delta is hanging around in some countries. UK had a lot of Delta infection and boosters --> they have suppressed Delta. In Belgium, for example, Delta is hanging on at 10% prevalence. Some theories that Omicron has a lower R0 than Delta, but a shorter generation time. In this scenario Delta would likely make a comeback. Me? I'm skeptical. I think Omicron definitely has a shorter generation time which has caused gross over-estimates of R0, but I still think it's a higher R0 than Delta. I don't know jack shit tho.

Fascinating thread here. Immune response to Omicron infections pretty weak. Gives some credence to the few Omicron-Omicron reinfection anecdotes. Have to wonder what kind of immune response the asymptomatic folks get. Can't be great. But you can mitigate that by being vaccinated. Fuckin idiots. Who the fuck turns that down?
