OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Everyone's opinion is equal when it comes to viruses. Virologist? Immunologist? Health Wellness Doctor? Plumber? We all have an equal say.

Dubas should ask Anthony Fauci what he thinks about trading for Giroux.

… what’s the controversial part there? What is there possibly to argue about that?
It's funny that this got posted, I was going to last night but forgot, along with this "twin" thread below. I'm obviously on #TeamJosh but it is kind of funny how people can make seemingly reasonable arguments that are the exact opposite lol. It's why we all mostly agree to defer to the experts because the data is too complex for most people to read and understand.

Dude, chill out and watch the video with an open mind. It's a very fair and honest response.
so I watched the whole video, and to be honest it left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. in fairness I need to listen to some of the podcasts in question to get a better understanding of the level of BS and misinformation we are talking about, but I was left with the impression that Rogan is either just a total moron (which is possible, as per many presto posts), or him and Spotify made a strategic decision to try and save face with this video, which was calculated to calm people down without actually committing him to doing much differently.

I guess I'm not convinced anything changes as a result of this video, and the points he makes at the beginning of the video are just... patently false. are there any actual examples of anyone being silenced for suggesting a lab leak?

sure, folks were wrong about masks early on, but no one was banishing from the twitterverse people who were in support of them. this is where he kinda loses the plots, he is arguing against a fictional bogeyman.

anyhow, admittedly the video is certainly better than nothing. time will tell if it is all talk or if it will prompt a change in how Rogan does things.

he also does not really address the misinformation charge head on. but I bet his ratings are gonna fucking jump.

This is true. It's also true in the current days tho. Malone, Berenson and some others have recently gotten banned. No one got banned for saying that vaccines are sterilizing or don't block transmission. If that was the case, the worlds top virologists and immunologists would have been banned. No one got banned for suggesting lab leak. If that was true, one of the worlds top publishers wouldn't have agreed to publish a book entirely on the lab leak theory. And the author of the book wouldn't spend her entire days on social media preaching about the leak and trying to sell her book. That's not censorship to me!

TLDR: His video was great but it's okay to admit he used a lot of hyperbole in that one part of the video.
he creates a fictional bogeyman and then argues his actions are at least in part a response to said bogeyman. only problem is the bogeyman exists more in his head than reality.

You know that guy’s location is marked Truckistan 🇨🇦 and has a blog about how Alberta’s hospitals are actually being overwhelmed by vaccine injury patients though, right?

Yeah, like many others I originally stopped at that part too. I really think he just has a lot of narratives put in his head by people and like anything, if you hear them enough, you start to believe them. I don't think it was malicious.

Some folks here suggested to continue the video so I was pleasantly surprised that he turned it around. Good on Neil Young and good to see most of us folks were right about Neil doing what he did, even if Joe was really that calculated and didn't mean what he said. Maybe I'm blind but I think he did mean it. I just think he's a really really stupid person which is partially why I've never enjoyed his podcast; if I'm going to listen to someone 4 hours a day, having a brain would be my #1 criteria.

Really, that's what you got out of it? Man you guys are so sensitive. A lot of this (imo!) comes down to the fact that people on #BothSides often decide that everyone who disagrees with them is either an "idiot" or a "grifter", and not worth listening to at any time for any reason. I think that's really shortsighted. Now we all do it with covid, because the other "side" has a lot of antivaxxers spouting nonsense - easy call. But they aren't always wrong, and we aren't always right. Especially with a new disease like this one.

If you were famous and tweeted 6 months ago that vaccines don't stop you from getting covid and don't prevent you from transmitting it to others, you WOULD HAVE gotten swarmed and attacked by thousands of people, labelled an "antivaxxer", "idiot", "grifter", and every name under the sun.

Here's the thing, though. They would have been right. Rogan should have used the word "attacked" rather than "banned". (and again, some people were)

He records a podcast 4-5 times every week (or used to), and we are talking about TWO episodes. And as he said, McCullogh and Malone have worked for years in the field of medical science and have credentials. It's not like he had Joe the Plumber on to rant about vaccines. Now I know virtually nothing about McCullogh. Malone seems like he could be grifting, I don't really know what he's up to. I have not listened to either episode. Some people do like to play the contrarian. Some people do legitimately believe the mainstream consensus is wrong.

Remember what they say about the wisdom of crowds - they are very often wrong. (cough, #Brexit, cough)

You are distorting what he said, people did get banned from various social media outlets for posting misinformation about covid in the early days. I'm not even saying they shouldn't have been, but to say it never happened is incorrect.
From the part I watched, Rogan said that if you posted 8 months ago that you could get infected after having the vaccine, your social media accounts would be deleted. That's such obvious, stupid, pandering, nonsense BS that I stopped watching. You might want to re-watch if you think all he said is that people were banned for posting misinformation.
