OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Might be a silly question, but how stable is our food supply? For example, are we going to get local asparagus in May (as is customary)

Are farmers working the fields?

Is our food supply endless?

Was wondering this.

We are good for a while, but not forever.

At the urging of my sister, I've done a trial of hello fresh. First up: Nashville Chicken with Mac N Cheese. I'd never had tried it if it wasn't essentially half off, but figured for $40 for 6 servings of food, I could do worse.

I mean I would think we're good for a few months assuming that mechanized farms are still able to reap current crops?

But dont really know at all.

Yeah...nobody is really talking about it.They're just assuming Loblaws has an endless supply of everything, except toilet paper

I may also guess that many places like Bradford greenhouses may switch up and instead of pretty flowers etc, grow seedlings for veg etc. people can grown their own

I feel like I saw something on the news where farmers were pretty much like "we're fucked" but that could have just been a dream. It's been a long three weeks.

And yeah.. Definitely grow your own shit if you can. I do it every year but I may just need to load up even more than usual.

I figure I don't need everything but even a little bit of my own fresh stuff to supplement with the non-perishables will help.

Might need to get two chickens to hang out on my balcony. Should yield about 10 eggs/week.

It means load up on frozen fruits and veggies while you can.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been thinking.

I’ve been slowly building up my inventory of frozen & canned fruits & veg, but I haven’t dipped into any of them yet.

Figure I’ll save those for a rainy day and keep buying a pile of fresh stuff on my bi-weekly shopping trips, for as long as it’s available.

‘Cos yeah, if this keeps getting worse and/or the majority of the world’s population stays in lockdown for months, who the fuck knows what’s going to happen.
