OT: MLB Thread

Plain language rattles lawyers.
Boulchit.

When the pitcher has to hit the manager has to strategize. Baseball is a cerebral sport. Therrien would be an even worse baseball manager than he is a hockey coach because he can't think on his feet. Part of baseball's charm is watching how moves during the game pan out. You get none of that when you have the DH. You can leave your starting pitcher in for as long as you want without consequences. The DH is about so much more than pitchers taking a turn at bat. Only the most superficial fans see it that way. People who really know the game and appreciate its underlying strategy hate the DH. Chicks may love the long ball but that's only because they don't have an appreciation for the game's finer points. Home runs are the shiny objects that appeal to simple minded fairweather fans. Fans with a deeper understanding appreciate the "inside game": bunting, base stealing, double-switches, etc. That's why the National League is more entertaining. To me, nothing is more boring than spending all your time waiting for a home run to happen.

Why couldn't Moore go one more inning? He was completely in charge of the game. As good as Bochy has been, he overthought and overmanaged that inning. Five relievers. He'd have been better off just throwing one of his all-star starters out there to pitch relief on short rest-they had enough of them. Then short rest Baumgartner for next game or whatever.

Not sure I have enough confidence in the Cubs to take out the Jays, so I was kinda hoping for Giant magic to continue. (I'm a Cards fan).Almost did. They almost won game 1 and should have had last night's.

Moore had thrown well over 110 pitches iirc. I agree though, let him start the inning given how the bullpen has been. We will spend big on a closer.

Yay! Gnats eliminated!

I feel dirty for indirectly cheering for the Dodgers, but it's a price I'm prepared to pay.

I hope they lose miserably against the Cubs.

I honestly hope the Cubs win, just so that their fanbase can be happy and the "curse" nonsense can stop forever.

Not sure what industry you work in, but in mine lawyers get very rattled by plain language.

This was your post that I originally meant to quote:

"It depends what you like to watch. If you'd rather see guys like Ortiz, Encarnacion and Edgar Martinez mash the hell out of the ball than you probably like the DH better.

If you prefer to watch the likes of John Lackey, Anthony DeSclafani or Wei-Yin Chen struggle than you probably like having the pitcher hit instead."

Why are you rooting against Canada's team? This will be their last year for quite a while that they will have a shot at the playoffs, they can't choke again.
I'd rather my eyes be ripped out using a machete & tweezers than root for anything from "T-dot".

F*^k the Blow Jays

Typical toronto choke team. On the other end, the Jays worst issue is their manager. Probably the worst in all baseball

Three down, one to go.

Funny, I can't seem to find Jack Burton. Anyone seen him lately?

Nothing beats watching a Toronto sports fan have their dreams crushed on national television. So freakin' sweet.
