OT: MLB Thread

I honestly dont mind pulling for the Jays , because to me they are moreso Canada's team than Toronto's team. Having said that I could never buy a blue jersey that says Toronto on it.

Keep telling that to yourself. Their elimination can't come soon enough.

Because they are rammed down our throats six months a year.

The problem with this "they are rammed down throats" argument is that it assumes people don't want to watch the Jays.

In a 500 channel universe + internet, the fact is they draw huge ratings, and make tons of money for rogers. Rogers keeps showing them not cause they want to ram them down people's throats, but because get this, they like money.

The Jays make a shit ton of money.

I watched the highlights over and over this morning just to see them lose over and over. Sweet. Canada's team,eh? If that's the case, I delight in the mourning......

Love the downcast faces in the media. Its a beautiful morning...........must say though, won't be near as much fun watching after they are eliminated. You need a team to cheer strongly for or against.

Well unfortunately the Jays will not be in this position for a very very long time. So, this is extremely disappointing that they are wasting their last opportunity with the team they have to go out like this.

You are a good man . . . unlike Wiseguy.

The most annoying thing is, while wearing an Expos cap around town IN MONTREAL, people telling me that I should be wearing a Blow Jays cap. That 4th loss can't come soon enough.

I love the Jays.

Gibbons is an idiot. But this team is built on the HR. They don't get 'em, they don't win. This series is magnifying their issue. They aren't getting fastballs and the hitters are not adjusting or changing their swings.

I think Sanchez will win today.

I also think that is pretty stupid. I always think it's funny that people feel they have some sort of "right" to tell you who to cheer for.

Even though the Expos told me they didn't want me as a fan long before they became the Nationals and it was clear they were doomed, I never had any affection for Toronto's team. That team also didn't have to vote in favour of contraction.

I was okay with their first WS win in '92 but definitely not with the second one the year after, although I always liked Olerud and Carter as players, especially Olerud. He had a near-perfect swing.

Maybe Jays fans have a different perspective, but I kind of like Gibbons in spite of my dislike of the team. He's so laid back in interviews, with that Texan drawl......

Make no mistake about it, the Jays can get on a roll like they did against Texas again and the Indians generally aren't going to win with their bats. Which is why they need to stomp the Jays out now. The Indians have basically no pitchers left, other than the three bullpen guys who are probably fatiguing as well. Miller,on the other hand, has been simply toying with the Jays.

The Jays won their first World Series a month after I moved to BC. I remember being at the supermarket check-out wearing my Expos cap and the cashier asking me why I wasn't wearing a Jays cap. I told her that I had just moved to the west coast in order to get as far away from Toronto as possible. Then I asked her "What has Toronto ever done for you?"

Of course this was before I realized what a pathetic bunch of bandwagon fans exist in Vancouver. The night the Jays won the city erupted in celebration. It was disgusting. I've hated Vancouver sports fans ever since.

As mentioned before, I won tickets to the game in Atlanta where the Jays won their 1st WS title. Before leaving for the trip from Vancouver the ticket sponsor wanted a photo from me and my friend (also an ex-Montrealer) wearing a Jays cap. I basically said I don't think so. This caused some concern from the sponsor who asked why I wasn't so enthused about Jays and I explained the whole Montreal - Toronto thing to him. I did say I would reluctantly cheer for the Jays because they were playing Atlanta, a team loathed by most Expos fans back in the day.

I can't wait for the Jays to be eliminated. At this point I avoid the first 15-minutes of TSN Sports Centre while they go on and on about the Jays run and then branch off to another Auston Matthews story. Besides... an Indians - Cubs WS seems only fitting. Can the Cubs finally break their losing streak and imagine the Indians winning after years of being made fun of? Plus them winning after the Cavaliers just won the NBA title would be something else.

Not happy with this. The entire Indian starting staff has basically been wiped out and Kluber lost. They may not have the bats to compensate.....sloppy play, let the Jays off the mat. Jays far better today.
