OT: Movies/TV Shows

given the star power and legit budget in that Brody one it should have been way better but was just forgettable in the end.

Predator 2 had gary busey at least.

It had a lot of likeable 80's/90's support actors. But Danny Glover has 0 charisma as a lead. (Blades, Alonzo, Paxton)

The "Predator" prequel, 'Prey" is getting amazing reviews and it's streaming on..Hulu? That's sad. I know they likely are doing that because of it's timeframe taking part in the past and no stars, but reviews are so damn good. Apparently looks amazing too.
The last Predator film I paid to see at TIFF and it was so shit.
I’m going to see it in IMAX on Sunday. Some flicks I just need the full effect.

Joker was a good movie. I especially liked that they made it seem (at least the way I interpreted it, if I recall correctly), that he wasn't THE Joker, but some guy that may have preceded the actual Joker or something.

But I have to say, the sign of a really good movie is whether I catch myself wanting to watch it again (or even just parts of it) on tv when I come across it. If I don't, it means I didn't really love it all that much. While I enjoyed Joker, I didn't love it. No real interest in sitting through it again or just watching certain parts of it.

I found the same thing with the new Batman flick. And I'm shocked actually. I probably rewatched each Bale flick in whole or in part a dozen times or more over the years. When I come across Pattinson's, I almost have zero interest in it now that it's available on the premium channels. Same thing with the new Spidey, pretty much all the Spideys. Just one and dones.

In stark contrast to Bond, for instance, where I always want to watch parts of it again here and there.

Neither was Star Trek.

It was still Kirk and Spock.
I could've sworn in the final minutes they made it seem like he was just a guy, and that the real Joker would end up being someone else.

I'm actually surprised by the sequel. If he's actually not going to interact with Batman, I kinda question that this is the super villain.

well the real Joker certainly copped his stylez then.
That sort of creative license I'd be fine with.

But in the baby cartoony non-source material, there was no one before the real Joker, and the real Joker was turned into this looney by falling into a vat of chemicals, not because he was just pretty sad.

pretty sure your baby comics had a bunch of different origin stories for him.

The original and accepted baby comic origin was what I said, with some variation here and there. I think he was initially just some worker in the plant, then they said he was another villain called the Red Hood and fell in during a heist, and I think Bats was the one that even knocked him in by accident in a couple of those variations. But it was always around the same thing. Chemicals made him that way.

A year or two ago they did a story called The Three Jokers, where they made it seem there were actually three different guys posing as the Joker all these years, unbeknownst to Bats, but one of them was like the boss of the other two. For the life of me, can't even remember how they ended that story.

I think the Dark Knight flicks made a good choice in making it seem like all the origin stories were just stories joker made up for fun.

This was definitely the real Joker though. But obvioisly a different origin story - though not necessarily because there might always be a vat of acid in his future.

And lets be honest this origin story rocked.

A lot of jokers in this thread alone

/position in vats of chemicals
