Three Kings is good because it's more of a straight up movie. When he tries his dumb quirky shit the results are bad.
 
I have a theory.

Hockey Canada is skimming 30 million an episode off of the rings of power budget to pay to cover up sexual assaults.

Honestly can't think of another reason that this is so poorly made. I now understand the concept of hate watching and apologize to LoF for questioning that in the past.

Amazon is single handedly ruining epic fantasy adaptations for a generation.

I'm already mentally preparing myself for season 2 of WoT. This won't be the books, just another turning of the wheel. That's what I keep telling myself.

Sucksession. My only hate watch that I didn’t dump as soon as I started hating it. But it’s only because everyone goes apeshit over it that I’m trying to see what the fuck they’re so mesmerized by.

Yep, they're doing the same thing they did to Waste of Time.

Insane that these shows can cost as much as they do but be so poorly made. At least RoP looks good visually (wheel has some fucking larp level costumes). But shit plots, shit writing, shit pacing. Just bad.

HBO does so, so much more with lesser source material.
 
It all starts with the writing. Every single time. If that’s no good, no amount of acting and fx can save it. And yeah, it’s absolutely stupefying that with all that money, they can’t hire the right people, or there simply isn’t enough talent out there, to properly craft a great story and script. It’s like the entertainment version of trying to find a good goalie.
 
So does anyone have any suggestions for cutting cable if there are family members who are invested in some of the shows on tv still? Greys, good doctor, etc? We need to cut spending and Netflix isn’t an option to go, nor is Disney plus for the little guy.

American Hustle was one of the more infuriating films ive ever seen.

Formulaic awful characters that felt like they needed to have character A yell at character B then C, then B at C, until everyone yelled at everyone. Plus cool period piece clothes.

I did like the Fighter.

Most of the big cable shows should be available on demand on CTV/Global sites, but may be time limited. CTV Throwback has some good older shows and movies too. Available as an app on smart TVs.

I recall seeing the trailer of AH with the great cast and being so excited. What an overrated, dull waste of time that was. The only part I enjoyed was Louis CK and the fishing story.
He's a terribly overrated director. People seem to cling to these directors trying "Different, quirky" movies. But if it's shit it's shit.
