OT: Movies/TV Shows

HOD was very good. I still can’t help but feel I was more captivated by GOT’s early years, but no reason to really compare them, I guess. Strange thing is, even though there were more characters to keep track of on GOT, their names were more distinctive so I wouldn’t have to wonder “ “who?” each time someone was mentioned. But it feels like almost all these HOD characters have variations of the same two or three names so it gets confusing in conversation.

Another thing that’s confusing - both with respect to the King’s sons and his grandsons, the older one looks younger than the other. Like, is Luke actually older than Jayce in the show? They look and act the opposite. And isn’t Patchy younger than Aegon? I’d check online but I didn’t know the HOD stories were all fleshed out in the books and last time accidentally spoiled for myself how Patchy became Patchy.

Not sure how it's been reviewed or anything, but I watched the new Hellraiser film and IMO it's at least better than most of the drek that is the rest of the movies after #2. If you liked the first movies I'd give it a look.
I thought so too even though it was choppy

ME, have you been swayed to peek at HOTD yet, from all of the positive buzz?

I think if you can stand your ground, you are going to have one hell of a binge watch ahead of you. So much good shit in this show.
Yeah I'm also surprised how good it is.

I still don't think it sucks, but it's certainly not great.

At least 2 characters I realy like in Adar and King Durin. I'd like to see more of them.

The Stranger has potential but come on and do something already.

It's funny because shows like HoD and Andor are also doing slowburns but just doing it much better.

one thing about HoD is that it's much more dour and bleaker than GoT.

GoT has some real moments of joy, goodness, and fun in between all the evil. Starks were mostly legit good, Tyrion and Bronn were funy, Arya was fun.

HoD is working well but it's pushing the bleakness pretty far.

I don’t really find that at all. I think it’s just laser focused on its own story, which is kinda refreshing. It’s nice not to have to suffer through some garbage b story to change the tone here and there like some other shows do.

Now if you could just answer my question of which of the brothers are older, that would be great. In both cases, isn’t the younger one older looking, more confident, and aggressive than the younger one? It’s so against type that I question if I got it wrong somehow in earlier episodes.

Most remakes of horror films are bad (Evil Dead remake was great though). I'll check it out!

you already answered your question.

Jayce definitely looks older than his older brother, who looks like a little kid.

Patchy is bigger obviously but i'm not sure he looks older.

I kinda love the look of the guy they got to play patchy btw. He looks legit scary.

Yeah, me too. That semi confrontation between Patchy and Daemon was great. I read an interview with the director who said that the showrunner made her put that in because it’s setting up a larger event later. The Patchy vs. Daemon duel should be classic. I like that Patchy is also sort of copying Daemon’s earlier look.

Is the whole HOD story actually laid out in the books and they’re just following it? I thought I remembered reading before it released that the story was just in some rough general flashbacks without detail in the books.

I did no such thing.

You don’t feel the same or is it just me? I mean Patchy is way bigger and older looking than Aegon.
Patchy is a badass. Aegon the drunk is not.

Aegon is older but you are right that aemond (Patchy) looks older.

As for the strong boys... No idea which is which.

They events are laid out but it is a collection of stories told by others so what happened in the book is not fact.

The innocent looking quiet one who stresses over the legitimacy claims is Luke the older one. The other one who tells him to chill and is ready to fight his cousins is the younger one Jayce. It’s one thing if they only just look older versus younger, but the characters act the opposite too.

I read all the books and I can't say there was ever anything like a detailed complete story of the Targaryan dynasty. But maybe there was more packed in there than i remember.
