OT: Movies/TV Shows

Stone made solid films if you understand the creative license he uses. They're not documentaries.

The only Oliver Stone film I’ve ever seen is Platoon. I always meant to watch more of the rest of his catalogue, but never got around to it.

But ever since he revealed himself as a slavering, sycophantic Putin toadie and one of the dumbest tankies you’ll find outside of Roger Waters or Glenn Greenwald, I lost all interest in going back and giving any of the rest of his shit the time of day.

I’m no movie guy. Safe to say I’ve probably watched 10% of the movie you guys have. I generally like more absurd off the wall comedy with some heart. Like Scrubs is a top sitcom for me.

Princess Bride
Dumb and Dumber
Happy Gilmore
Blazing Saddles
Hot Fuzz / World’s End
Holy Grail
1st Hangover

this ends my contribution to this topic

Hangover is a great film, legit top 5 comedy consideration. Sequels drag down the perception of it

No Wall Street, The Doors, Natural Born Killers, U-Turn, JFK, Any Given Sunday, Nixon, W.??

He's pretty great.

JFK...That's one amazing masterpiece. The argument of it not being "True" isn't a good argument. As a film=masterpiece.

Agreed, I am as big a believer in the ‘Oswald lone gunman’ camp as you’ll find….but I think JFK is his masterpiece.

Legendary ensemble cast, Costner at his best, and some delicious (if absurd) conspiracy theories. It’s a blast.

Love the audio commentary for it with Oliver as well.

Agree for the most part, though I thought Sunday was goofy.

Have yet to see Nixon or W… am I missing much?

You know what? I have seen W. Forgot about that one.

Haven’t seen the rest though. They were all on my list of movies to get around to watching, but at this point I can’t separate the art from the artist & won’t bother.

W. is the worst on that list by a lot.

How about Conan the Barbarian or Scarface? Not directed by him but written (either entirely or a good chunk of...) by him.

That reminds me - here's one that probably won't get much love here, and probably doesn't fully qualify as a comedy.

But I think The Man from UNCLE with Cavill is a great film. Lots of funny moments, overall super entertaining, and Cavill is the man.
