OT: Movies/TV Shows

I guarantee his charisma will be off the charts after Bond. Don’t judge him off of having to play a bland superhero and under the radar video game character.
Didn't work for George Lazenby (granted it likely had to do with him basically 'walking out on the role' after the underrated (imho) On Her Majesty's Secret Service movie).

But lets get back to "The Man from Uncle"!

Those are very niche. A lot of people saw the DC movies, but like I said, they go for the Superman character, not the Superman actor. It’s the same way Brandon Routh remained a nobody despite being in a big Superman movie. Cavill is obviously a lot bigger, has been in multiple DC movies, but again, just test it out, ask 10 people who Henry Cavill is and see how many know.

I have no idea who he is. I haven't seen anything that he's been in as far as I know.

Went and looked him up, I guess I did see him in "Man From Uncle" but didn't know who he was and apparently forgot about him. Gotta watch that again now, I know I enjoyed it the first time.

Well, Lazenby was a bum, so there’s that.

You’re definitely not getting a like from Montana on this one. You’ll just have to settle for the one by me.

Knowing him by name is an imaginary distinction you came up with…..the idea people don’t know who he is after Superman’s billions at the box office, of 150m different viewers on Netflix, for the series. Is absolute bonkers.

I just learned he was cast as Sherlock Holmes in two films tho…..that’s even worse than casting him as Bond.

You guys are killing Montana right now.

The fact that Cavill isn't famous despite the huge roles is a strike against him, not for him. He just lacks charisma.

Or the fact he’s already headlined a film as a secret agent, with the intent of it becoming a franchise….until it bombed.

Widespread name recognition is an imaginary distinction?

People knowing his name, or knowing him to see him are an insignificant distinction, yes.

To say a guy who headlines a billion dollar movie, and one of Netflix’s most watched series (that ran for three seasons)…..is hilariously re[dacted].

I can only comment on my experience. I know most big movie stars but have no clue who that guy is. I'm not some old bag and find myself relatively with it. But n=1 so hard to determine much from this.

Caveat is that I hate super hero shit with a fiery passion and actively ignore the shit out of it. Maybe that plays a part, maybe it doesn't.

Yeah, I mean if you don’t know who Superman is…then I wouldn’t expect you to know him.

It’s almost impressive to have been able to miss that so completely, through both Man of Steel & BvS.

Well yeah….I said an unknown non-star should be cast as Bond….and then you tried to shoehorn Cavill in, claiming he wasn’t that well known/not a star.

….it was a goofy as shit argument, from the start.
That’s exactly right. I said he’s not well known enough (not that he’s an unknown), which you’re seeing proven in this very thread.
