OT: Movies/TV Shows

…and Remington Steele was more Bond that the Bond he eventually played, damn near.

We get it, you’re really into Henry Cavill.
I’m just deep into discussing him here, but yeah, I like him. My movie and tv tastes very much are governed by actors that I follow around project to project. I’m not so much a director guy to want to watch each next film they do, but very much will want to watch films just to see what the actor I like did next.

don’t cut yourself short….you also like imagining having private convos with him.

Just the two of you…

Im looking forward to watching Man From U.N.C.L.E. based on all this…..I love spy flicks, but have been bored to tears by the last few Daniel Craig Bonds.

Speaking of which, It’s a fucking sin we never got any more of Gary Oldman as George Smiley…Tinker Tailor is a masterpiece of a spy flick.

One of my mentors had a father in law who was Moore’s business manager. When my mentor was young and only just married, he and his new wife took a trip to London. While there, the father in law arranged for them to get dinner with Roger one night. I guess they went to some afterhours gaming house/poker club or whatever that would be called, and got to drink with Roger all night. Super envious.

Yeah, he's definitely an original. That sounds interesting. I just looked and it's on YT. Imma check it out.

Just watched this. Yeah, Shandling is definitely very impressed with Bo. Also, just a great 27 minutes of entertainment. They're all very quick and elite ball busters. Such clever shots and never taking the low hanging fruit.

I’m trying to remember where I even first saw Cavill. I assume Superman first, where I was like yeah, perfect Supes, but Supes is such a bore (I did recently semi rewatch that one though and have to say I liked it more). But UNCLE was legit awesome. Now exposed flesh eater Armie Hammer was also very good in it. The style and camera work and music were also all fantastic. Totally unexpected too because I expected nothing out of that film. I mean, the character is basically Bond, just a lighter jokey version, so if you haven’t seen it, I’m curious if you come away with a different opinion on him in the Bond role.

thats great….I’m assuming this would have been when he was still The Saint, but had been announced as the next bond?
I *think* this episode of "The Saint" was around during still the early part of the Connery Bond.

Useless but interesting trivia....in the clip I posted, the lady who thought the other gentleman was in the FBI & Simon Templar was James Bond....

Both would actually end up playing those roles in the James Bond flick "Live & Let Die" (granted Felix Leiter wasn't with the FBI but CIA). :geek:

mentioned it early, but it’s a damn shame he didn’t get to play Superman for a better director…..a Superman flick should never be that dark and gloomy, imo.

no one needs a gritty Superman.

I dunno, I’m on the fence about that. It’s such a difficult character to work with.

I’m confident James Gunn gets it right….I think he’s using Grant Morrison’s All-Star Superman which for my money is the best Superman story arc thats been told.

own this oversized (and overpriced) Absolute Edition of it, and its a masterpiece of the art form imo.

can buy the paperback edition for like $15-20 I suspect, on Amazon and I’d recommend it to anyone remotely interested in Superman.

The Green Room was a real underrated show, every episode was just four or five comedians sitting around discussing the art form, the industry and bustin each others balls. Was great stuff.
