OT: Movies/TV Shows

And The Batman is pretty cool. I can't quite take the people who put it ahead of Nolan's take but it's cool to see the current generation get their own really good version and they do love it.

I thought it was trying a bit too hard myself but there's no doubt it's good.

The Batman is the best batman film imo, but Bale’s Bruce Wayne was so strong it makes up much of the distance.

If it wasn’t for Ledger’s Joker though, I’m not sure I’d take Nolan’s over Reeves interpretation….also thought Jeffrey Wright’s Gordon was really damn good, and Riddler ‘twist’ was awesome, imo.

Didn’t hate Andy Serkis Alfred, but I never read the Earth One Batman comic that he’s pulled from….so he just felt even further off what my head cannon Alfred is than Jeremy Iron did, which I also didn’t love. Michael Gough (Batman 89’) and Alan Napier (Batman 66’) are the definitive versions of the character and I kinda hate how much they’ve gotten away from that. Caine was good, but I kinda prefer an unknown…..Caine just felt like Caine.

I don’t have particularly high hopes for Reeves interpretation of Joker tho…..kinda wish they’d just skip that and do Court of Owls.

Curious to hear more on this idea of the Sopranos not deserving their laurels tho…

I’ve watched an episode and a half of Penguin, and do find it kinda boring….was really excited for it, because of how incredible Colin’s transformation is (not just aesthetically but as an actor, I still can’t visualize Colin underneath it, it’s wild)….but yeah I dunno, it’s not really pulling me in yet.

I almost feel like it’s hindered by being called a Batman project, as opposed to if this was just its own original show with no outside baggage.

Legit shocked you could like that film, not to mention more than Batman Begins and Dark Knight.

Bale is the best Bruce and Batman thus far, Caine was the best Alfred, and I can’t see anyone’s villain being better than Ledger’s Joker. Scarecrow and Ra’s (Cillian and Liam) were also amazing.

There was literally nothing in The Batman that would make me want to watch it twice. Meanwhile I’ve seen Batman Begins and Dark Knight probably ten times.

As excessive as Keaton’s was lame.

Also seeing Keaton’s naturally puckered lips under the cowl was terrible.

Bale was exactly what I’d imagine Bruce to be. Perfect.

His suit was shit to, imo.

His cowl is embarrassing to look at, compared to either Pattinson or Affleck versions. No Bale fight scene can stand next to either Afleck’s warehouse scene, or Pattinson’s night club scraps.

It's interesting because back in 89 before the film came out, Jack was seen as the perfect Joker, Keaton a terrible choice for Batman. Jack really wasn't a great fit as the Joker.

eh jack was great.

keaton was def a hated pick at the time but turned out great.

and michelle is still the greatest catwoman by far
