OT: NFL thread

If you suck as you say they do, how is it a failure?

Anyway we have the Michel Therrien of coaches. He is 1-12 the last thirteen games without his starting QB.

I didn't see game as I am in Oregon and was in Cannon Beach but I didn't think we would win.

I only caught the 2nd half. The rookie QB looked pretty good actually from what I saw although in the 4th he started to show some nerves with his accuracy after the NYG took the lead.

Still the 'Boys could have won the game on a FG attempt had WR Williams done the obvious thing and head for the sidelines after catching a pass in the final 10-seconds of the game. Of course he did not and tried to gain more yardage so there was no time left for the FG try. Then you see Williams on his knees realizing his mistake, head down, probably tears coming out of his eyes and what does the moron coach do... he taps him on the back as he goes to shake hands with the Giants coach.

Why the **** does Garrett always try to comfort the veteran players who cost the Cowboys a game? That wasn't a rookie mistake... Williams should have know the situation and been disciplined to follow protocol. Such a typical Cowboys loss and the coach had such a typical response to it. :banghead:

I don't know about the Raiders going for the win when they got the TD late in the game against the Saints. I mean it worked out for them and they converted but that was a pretty spectacular pass and catch to get those 2 extra points.

Dak was good , poised in the pocket and made good throws . They should of won , Dez and that gimme interception were TD`s .

I say Romo has played his last game in Dallas. This kid is ready to take over and he and Zeke are the future.

Whats he going to do, lash out at him on the field right then and there?

Two things
1) the guy knows he ****ed up, as obvious by his reaction. Do you think telling him right at that moment, with millions watching on TV and 100,000 people at the stadium, that he ****ed up really does anything?
2) you don't think this is handled behind closed doors at some time this week?

It isn't arguably, he is the best pure and simple. However, his career long is only 56. I don't disagree with you but Williams thought he could make one guy miss and then get 3-4 yards and go out of bounds. His thought process was flawed but it wasn't like he didn't think he had to go out of bounds. That being said, Captain Clap is a loser coach and his teams always find ways to lose. That is on him.

I'm tired of veteran Cowboys players knowing they ****ed up and cost their team a game, it's happened way too many times in the past few years.

As for Garrett.... there is zero chance he hashed it out with Williams after the game or at some other point except maybe with a "next time you old goof, head for the sidelines" talk. He has no penchant for discipline on the team and has taken a course of being buddy buddy with his players rather than being their boss.

He was probably pleased that the Cowboys made it so close anyhow considering Romo was out. He clearly is a fan of the Jacques Martin coaching style of when down a goal just hang on and the loss won't feel so bad as a blowout.

Captain Clap is the type that thinks discipline is fining a player for not wearing dress pants on the plane. Johnson would have cut a guy for a play like that but Clap has his inherent excuse that Romo is not available.

He has gone 1-12 in the last 13 games Romo has not started. Even I likely could have done that badly. It is very difficult to lose 12 of 13 in any sport.

He is a .500 coach since he became head coach in 2010. If it weren't for Romo, he would be a .200 coach.

It's also part of coaching to make sure the players are prepared and are not making those stupid mistakes.

Sure it is.

I would hope that every coach in the NFL tells his WRs to get out of bounds in the two minute drill. I don't know what more can be said to the guy.

I don't believe any coach is actually like that. I kinda think these guys may not be the best coaches, but at the same time are still smarter than given credit for here.

It's more than that, we can train/coach player to visualize plays him their head before making them so that it becomes instinctive.

You'll never see a Patriot player make a stupid mental mistake like this. Or very very rarely.
