OT: The News Thread

yall are making me feel like a peasant with my aeropress and handheld milk frother.

on the plus side, same quality of coffee at home vs in the woods.

Just a pair of body glove water shoes I ordered off Costco…but so far I love ‘em.

i always thought they were silly as hell.....until i finally bought a pair, and they are the best thing ever.

it's like being barefoot but with superhero feet.

I used to do aeropress, it's great. I just settle for decent beans at a good grind in a perc these days though. I'm not a natural morning person in the least and the less I have to do from waking to caffeine soaked, the better.

I've modified my caffeine consumption quite a bit over the years. Used to be someone who needed it to be conscious and coherent. Would drink several cups (or pots) of drip swill daily.

Now, I won't drink drip coffee and I basically make myself a soy latte each morning that I don't start drinking until I get to the office. And I can now function like a normal human without caffeine, which is nice.

good coffee beans freshly ground does 90% of the work for a good cup of coffee. Everything else is just micro improvements (if not just the placebo of process)….

I bought my mother a Oxo drip machine, and my fresh roasted beans, freshly ground, made in that machine still tastes fucking amazing.

I'm too tired when I wake up; I need a coffee to make a coffee so I went from Aeropress to this Spinn thing (one button coffee maker that uses whole beans)

It's the trade off I make for being awake and going before like, 9:30 am.

I've just always sucked in the mornings. As a baby, child, teen, adult.

that is almost impressive.

my body clock usually wakes me up before 6 am most days now. I fought it for a time but am embracing it now. and if not my body clock, the cat sure as fuck will demand his breakfast before 7.

I’m definitely not a camper but my daughter her hubby go camping in the BC mountains as often as they can. The will enjoy a two or three day hike up the mountains to spend a few days camping at isolated spots near some mountain lakes or streams. They actually enjoy that craziness.

Even just bulk beans (I use the costco lavazza as my backup when I haven't been able to hit the local roaster I go to) at a decent grind is a game changer. Obviously the better the bean, the better the end product though. But fuck the grind up on good beans and it's meh anyway.

my local roaster makes a real nice medium roast espresso bean. which apparently is not legit espresso? I dunno, it's tasty. they have a dark roast espresso too that I like less. local roaster that's been around since I want to say the 1940s. to get to the bathroom in the back of the shop you walk past the actual roasting station, which is cool.

they do deliver out of province too, one of my friends in ON still gets their beans from them.

I don't take appointments before 10:30, my clients know to not expect emails or calls answered before 9-930.

I'm just not good at it and I'm done pushing myself to hate the first few hours of my day.
