The entire US Southwest wouldn't be as populous as it is had air conditioning not been invented. A/C is what allowed hick towns like Phoenix and Vegas and, to some extent, Los Angeles to boom after WW2.

Somehow the huge banyan tree in the town square still appears to be standing. But most everything else that made it such a quaint town has been destroyed. I remember strolling the main drag, having dinner at sunset by the beach. It was a paradise.

Corporate officers should be personally liable for harm caused by their decision just like us normies are. If I feel like the best way to maximize profit for my business includes punching someone in the fucking face, I still get charged with assault, my business doesn't just pay a fine and move on.
