OT: The News Thread

Re: OT - The News Thread

How so? I understand Fox hasn't lost advertising money from this boycott which began in Aug or Sept last year I believe (and has gained steam). Oddly, his ratings have even gone higher since colorsofblahblah began its punitive action.

Is it possible, the 'left' in it's uproar, is helping to make this guy a star.....similar to that hunter ex Governor woman from way out Alaska?

Re: OT - The News Thread

not sure where you're going.

I thought we were talking about ME's article.

Re: OT - The News Thread

yeah, we still are. Where did I lose you? My understanding is that the boycott is successful in yanking sponsorship from Becks time slot, but it's been shifted to other shows.

Capitalists being what they are you know, don't want to miss out advertising on the top cable news station I suppose.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Good for Gates to get behind some new ideas in this field...can't hurt to have his name attached.

Re: OT - The News Thread

ok. but

phasers>>>>>>>guns

but they haven't quite been invented yet, have they? what is doable and cost effective and practical now or in the next decade? i don't think fusion is. so why not invest in technology that we can use and benefit from NOW?

Thorium does exist now though.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Wow that is interesting...

Amazing how they can do that without using enriched Uranium. If this is the case, and they can get this up and running sooner than the 20 year mark, you could eliminate all enriched stuff, and make having it illegal... Therefore countries cannot use the excuse of .."we have enriched uranium because of our nuclear power" (I know KB likes that idea)

Re: OT - The News Thread

in a form that is widely available and reasonably cost-effective?

Much closer than this tech you've posted, and with a significantly higher potential.

Thor energy in Norway is currently trying to clear government bans on nuclear energy to build a reactor, and India will have a Thorium reactor online by 2011

It's basically the same science behind that we already use to burn Uranium.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Surprised nobody's talking about Joe Stack yet. Stack just set his own house on fire and flew his plane into the IRS building in Texas. See the text of his suicide note here. The FBI ordered his domain shut down (www.embeddedart.com) pending investigation of his note.

Re: OT - The News Thread

crazy that this could happen in a country which has had an entire network encouraging them 24/7 for years to take the law into their own hands and overthrow the government.

Re: OT - The News Thread

I hope everybody reads that letter in the link blacksheep provided.
That way when Obama is blamed for this we can at least argue from an informed side.

What this guy wrote is what I've been saying for years; we are all puppets in a system designed to keep the strings attached.
It's too bad he did what he did in the end, but maybe violent revolution will end up being the only way we can stop the pigs at the top from doing what they do.

Re: OT - The News Thread

heh. I just last night had a real long-winded debate with some americans where the asserted that Christians are, by definition, not a terrorist threat. They don't commit terrorism, it doesn't happen. Specifically, no Christian has ever used or plotted to use a plane in terrorist activities.

Nice timing, taxdodger.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Timothy McVeigh didn't use an airplane, but he very clearly committed an act of terrorism.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Brace for it, you know it's coming....
