OT: The News Thread

Re: OT - The News Thread

To be fair, males won 12 of our 26 medals and 9 of the 14 golds. People think the women did better than they did because the gals were carrying us into the final week. Then came the final flurry from the men which went unnoticed in some quarters. Then again, perception is more important than reality in political instances.

Re: OT - The News Thread

The chicks got us back on our feet when the going was tough.

They steadied the ship when the men were crying like...well...women.

Uh-Oh Canada

Early Wednesday morning, State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.) was pulled over and arrested for drunk driving. Sources report that Ashburn -- a fierce opponent of gay rights -- was driving drunk after leaving a gay nightclub; when the officer stopped the state-issued vehicle, there was an unidentified man in the passenger seat of the car.

The Vatican was today rocked by a sex scandal reaching into Pope Benedict's household after a chorister was sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for a papal gentleman-in-waiting.

Angelo Balducci, a Gentleman of His Holiness, was caught by police on a wiretap allegedly negotiating with Thomas Chinedu Ehiem, a 29-year-old Vatican chorister, over the specific physical details of men he wanted brought to him. Transcripts in the possession of the Guardian suggest that numerous men may have been procured for Balducci, at least one of whom was studying for the priesthood.

okay....at what point does it become official that anyone who opposes homosexuality actually enjoys the cock as soon as doors are closed and windows are shuttered?

Re: OT - The News Thread

This is about having something to distract from the HST.
I'm assuming this is a joke.

a) The Conservatives aren't taking any heat for the HST
b) The Conservatives have nothing to do with the implementation of the HST
c) The provincial LIBERALS are the ones putting it into place.

Just curious if you voted in the Ottawa-West bi-election yesterday cork? Saddens me to see that Chiarelli won it. They marketed him too heavily at my apartment buildings which completely turned me off.

I did. Chiarelli didn't get my vote because I detest "career" politicians, and he really is just that.

I can't for the life of me understand why the provincial Liberals seem untouchable. McGuinty's years in office have been a complete disaster financially...and not to mention losing 1 billion dollars in a disaster e-health program.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Funny. We don't ever hear of those types of things in Canada.

Seems rather prevalent in the US, though.

Re: OT - The News Thread

The intermingling of religion and politics prevalent in American culture isn't seen in a far more secular Canadian society, which in turn increases the repression of natural homosexual tendencies for "conservative" Republican politicians. Hence the hypocrisy. Being pressured into a lifestyle that isn't natural to them and forced to condemn it as a result of peer pressure, both within the party and for the sake of their constituents in red areas.

The iconic Ontario-based company known for its coffee, doughnuts and light meals says it expects 900 new stores of various formats by 2013.

They would include 600 stores in Canada where Tim Hortons already has more than 3,000 locations under its banner.

Funny, I was just thinking to myself the other day that if there's one thing this country could use, it's more Tim Horton's locations. :sarcasm

How many Tim Horton's in your town/neighbourhood? Here's the locator. http://www.timhortons.com/ca/locator/index.html

There are 15 within 5 km of my house.

There are only 2 in Fort McMurray...both with dangerously long drive through line ups that stretch into the street, for the majority of the day.

Re: OT - The News Thread

and they all make money. Every last one of them

Yep. There's lineups all day long. They move pretty quickly though, have to give them that.

15 within 5 km is pretty insane though.
