OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Also, Blake Murphy on a podcast earlier today said this:

"I've been hearing that they are exploring trade partners with him, and I would be surprised if he's on the team past the deadline"

I can go either way on Brown. I think he maybe a decent PLAYING veteran to have on a young team. I’m ok keeping and ok trading but not just for nothing like Mindz say.

For comparison, the players making 45M this year:

Damian Lillard, Kawhi, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Giannis.

Bradley Beal is making 46 million and it's one of the worst contracts in the league. Pascal wouldn't be far off of that imo.
Thats the problem ...one ALL NBA team puts you in top tier max money and most dont deserve it

I dont get how you give Beal 250 mil when he couldnt make more 180-200 elsewhere as a UFA

Meet in the fucken middle or trade him

Thing about Brown is that he's 27. So while he's technically a veteran, this is a guy in his prime for 3-4 more years with championship experience. Super valuable to a young group. I'm down with trading him, but he's worth significantly more than just a rando 1st imo.

As for Siakam, I don’t think I’d care if he’s overpaid. Sign him right back (it’s obvious from his statements today that he’d rejoin), maybe he gives a discount to do so, and worry about it later. Most likely any star we’re adding will be some kid we take at the draft or some young guy we trade all the picks for, but not some super expensive player for the first several years.

Those guys are worth more to the mediocre or bad team they're on to anywhere else. Thus you get a Beal situation and what easily could have been a Fred & Pascal situation here with 80-90 million tied up in them.

Can't win with a guy making 50 million who isn't a top tier player. NBA math is just different than other leagues unless you're one of the super spender clubs, but those are being reigned in by the league now.

True but Washington is junk with or without Beal

Better off dumping Beal 1-2 years in advance for 3 decent rotational pieces to make the numbers work plus picks

That's my point re: Beal, Fred, Pascal or anyone fitting that description. You're better off just getting what you can get for them before the albatross contract arrives.

From a very Quick Look. Cleveland maybe a team looking for a bench big. Not sure if they are a trade fit for Boucher but possible.

Someone will be interested in him as a back of the rotation energy big. He's frustrating, but he's pretty okay overall.

Cleveland, Orlando, Phoenix, NOP, Clippers, Denver all make some amount of sense.
