OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Biagini for Fisher would have been decent value.

More assets for another team’s 40-man roster cleanup.

Fisher was 7th on the Astros OF depth chart and out of options.
Biagini and Sanchez for Fisher and the Astros #25ish prospect could live with. But for a guy who it feels like you would have been able to pick up for free early next year when he's out of options, hard to handle

On a conference call, Jays GM Ross Atkins says the team's moves have 'turned 14 years of control into 42 years of control'.

gonna be tough for the marketing folks to work that into a slogan.

My eyes are bleeding reading that. Holy shit what did we do to deserve this?

So do they care if any of the guys they get are good or have any reasonable potential to be an player on a contending team? Who gives a shit about control if they are in the minors?

Wow I wish this was satire. What a slap in the face. Such an asshat. Rogers must love it.

It's pretty clear that Atkins is banking on just ONE of these guys off the scrap heap to work out. At which point he'd be able to say "our approach regarding control and mitigated risk was worth it".

Get the **** outta here please. They've gutted the team and have ZERO to show for it. Im surprised they didn't add Giles and Smoak into a trade for some AAA scraps.

Ross Atkins says #BlueJays have targeted Derek Fisher for a long time, says the OF's handedness, speed, control, trajectory "couldn't fit better" with young core.

Well, he's not wrong about him fitting in with everything else they're doing.

Most of the trades they made were defensible, if underwhelming. This last one, however, is pretty shitty.

Fisher plays all 3 outfield positions and is hitting decently in AAA, so if he can up and play a good CF and hit, maybe it won't look so bad. Biagini is a solid reliever and Stevenson is a solid prospect, not necessarily anything special. The wild cards, obviously, are Sanchez & Fisher.

Time will tell, I guess.

Fisher's time is now. He's 26 in 3 weeks.

heh. glad everyone else is seeing the light on shatkins. unfortunate it has taken this long.

Yep, it's at this point I'd like to invite everyone who argued with me about this ****ing loser when we hired him, to eat my ass.

This was the only way this was going to end. There's a reason he had the keys taken away from him in Cleveland.

Absolutely. He was blocked in Houston but he'll get a chance to play here. It would be nice if it works out, especially if he can handle CF.

Still absolutely amazing to me that the Yankees didn't trade for a starter, and the Dodgers didn't trade for a reliever. Seems like the 2 obvious biggest needs going into the deadline. Just bizarre.
