OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Yes. His mistake was going to an organization who expected him to win. Would have been much safer in Toronto. Boston won last year ffs, but they don't suffer failure with a smile like Rogers does.
So does Roger's show any interest in Drombrowski now?
Actually, it would be hilarious for Roger's to hire him to oversee dumb and dumber work.
And yes, I would sign Vlad and Bo to long term contracts asap.

There's gotta be more going on behind the scenes. I'm guessing he had some talks with management about the future and they were on different pages.

But yeah, given our interest in him before, would be interesting to see if Rogers really does like him more than Shatkins and would actually dump the current group for him.

Is that enough though? And their record isn't that bad. They were never going to do as well as last season.

Bunch of underachievers this year . Sox either have everything go right or slumping players .

He made some dumb moves like extending Sale to dumb money when he was already breaking down .

I know they have money but they are at a crossroads with this team

Payroll will be at 150- 200 mil with a shit pitching staff, vets needed to be extended and a pipeline that cant help them like in the past

Yanks have way more roster flexibility to work with

The Jays are gonna be shit again next year for sure, but even with that said -- I will likely still watch this train wreck.

Assuming the plan is to continue to not spend, this is what I would like to see them do next season...

Go with Alford/Grichuk/Gurriel/Fisher (only because I know they will give him lots of rope) in the OF next year.

Cut ties with McKinney and only use Drury as the backup infielder.

Either cut ties with Hernandez or make him a 1B/DH guy (along with Tellez).

Do whatever with the pitching.

Bichette
Vlad (hitting him 4th royally pisses me off)
Gurriel
Grichuk
Biggio
Hernandez
Tellez
Jansen
Alford/Fisher

Josh Donaldson hit his 37th homerun tonight and now has a WAR near 6.

He's going to finish top 10 in MVP voting.

I think he's actually been too under the radar this year to get any MVP consideration. Acuna will soak up the vast majority of votes for Braves players, and I bet he falls even behind Freeman and Soroka as well for Braves players. But yeah, he's had a great season, for sure, vintage Donaldson while staying healthy. It is going to be really fascinating to see what he does in FA, though. Age is going to hold him back from signing a long deal, but what will people be willing to give?

It's such a shame they blew a chance to add to the farm system. Asset management is so bad with these fuckers.

Yeah. I mean, I honestly don't really care whether he was with us this year or not - in many ways, probably better for us long-term to let Vlad take as many reps as he can at 3B. But the fact that we got basically nothing back for him irks me. Shitty timing him being hurt almost all of last year, he only barely was healthy enough to get anything back. And compound with the fact that we got an injured player who has pitched all of 6 innings total this season, just a total wasted opportunity for anything.

Damn those Shatkins for not predicting injuries... DAMN THEM!!!

You mean damn them for not trading Donaldson at his peak instead of keeping him around for their fake attempt at contending? I agree.

Compete or don't compete, but don't pretend to do either.
