OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Springer had almost 600 PA this season though. Yeah, your 4th OF is going to get some reps, but having a 4th OF who isn't basically replacement level is a decent idea as well. It's not like Tapia is good defensively or anything either. Coming in to Toronto he was a passable to okay LF, but a borderline unplayable CF/RF. He decided to be bad at all 3 this season, which is great, but we knew he was an empty bat (with the exit velo curiosity, granted) who could only play one OF position passably coming in. It's just another place in the lineup where our front office tried to be cute instead of trying to build a winner.

If you're not going to have a 4th OF with a stick, they should at least have a good and verstaile glove. Tapia was bad enough that we felt the need to add Zimmer ffs.

Small consolation though yeah, Grichuk was terrible again this year. At least they got rid of him.
Springer started at DH 40 times. That’s 40 4th OF starts when Springer is healthy enough to play.

They should have just eaten 100% the rest of the money on Grichuk’s deal and released him, instead of trading him for another bad contract and throwing in money to balance. That’s why I said they only partly owned up to their mistake.

funny enough, Leafs are actually 10th in playoffs wins over the last 4yrs.

Not as good as being 5th in regular season wins and 3rd in regulation regular season wins, of course.

City is fucken cursed , epic collapse

When are these fucken coaches gonna stop pulling pitchers out of games due to analytics

Gauz wasn’t in trouble to be yanked and Bo fucked up on that 3 run play

Jays make too many defensive blunders
It's too bad that MLB doesn't have handshake lines or the Jays would be absolutely DOMINANT!

Mariners blew the series in one game yesterday. If Verlander had no hit them they'd have a better chance of a comeback but the way you lose is as important as the loss itself. It's one thing to get beaten by a better team but when you are 4 runs up with 6 outs to go on the road against a superior opponent after knocking their ace out of the game early, you have to close the deal otherwise you're finished. You can lose a game to a better team but you can't blow a game by beating yourself. you don't recover from those.

The Jays implosion happened in a best of 3 but it wouldn't have mattered if it were a best of 11. Once they lost that game the way they lost it the series would have been over no matter how many more games were to be played. Same goes for Seattle yesterday. They had one shot and they blew it. Now they won't even come close to winning another game in this series.
