you want more than a 2 year player before body is broken in return
Except his body wasn't that broken, was it? He put up a 5+ WAR season immediately after he left Toronto.

It's not fair including Colorado Rockie things with how the rest of the league operates, but you make very good points you handsome manI mean, we didn't give up one Moreno or Tiedemann for Donaldson himself, never mind two of them.
The general rule is that prospect capital is overvalued in these trades. Just looking at a few recently
- Lindor & Carrasco got Giminenz in return and he's great, but he peaked at the 92nd best prospect on Fangraphs list. The other 2 kids they received were well outside of the Mets top 10 at the time of the trade.
- The Aronado trade was grim AF for Colorado....not even worth breaking out the names.
- The Betts trade, lol
- Even a deal where real high end prospect capital went the one way, it was Trea Turner & Max fucking Scherzer for two top 20 prospects (#15 & 17 according to Fangraphs) and then 2 more outside the Dodger's top 10.
Moreno was a #1 and Tiedemann is probably going to go screaming into the top 10-15 by the end of this year.
If you want a list of elite players that have been traded over the last few years, it's easy enough to find. But they're often risky, with only a single year of control left.
Food for thought.
If the Red Sox dont want to pay Devers, but still want to remain competitive, and assuming the Jays would pay Devers.
Who would say no to Chapman++ for Devers (signed)
plus, Devers has the dirty red sock stink to himWould probably rather pay Chapman tbh. Devers probably isn't a 3B long term. Last 2 seasons, Devers hasn't been worth much more than Chapman at all. A better stick no doubt, but 1B isn't open for us to move him to if the glove at third gets any worse.
Wasn't Varsho that last year though?
And years of control.
In terms of what we could have dealt Moreno for, he does check off basically all the boxes for what we wanted.
I have to think the first Springer injury that happens and Varsho moves into RF and when George comes back Varsho stays there.Varsho played mostly RF last year. A reasonably amount of CF, but he wasn't every day there.
The plan here appears to be playing him in LF.
It's weird, his throw tool was rated as a 45, but the defensive metrics have him as providing a fair bit of positive impact with his arm last year and he played RF mostly. My guess is that he gets such a good jump on most balls (he's legit god tier here) that he's able to use that to mitigate having averageish arm strength.
