I still don't think he will but I don't know him well enough to discern whether he's motivated more by money or by a desire to win. If he cares about winning there are several places he can go which are more of a sure thing than Toronto. Ohtani is a great ball player like Matthews is a great hockey player. But like 34 he's never won jack shit so assuming that an Ohtani signing equals a parade is setting yourself up for disappointment.
On the bright side, if the only way Rogers can afford him is to give up their broadcast rights to hockey then it's a win for the rest of us.
