Jeff Passan last night all but admitted MLB wants him in LA, and it's true, which is why all this hype today is hard to trust until its done.
I still don't think he will but I don't know him well enough to discern whether he's motivated more by money or by a desire to win. If he cares about winning there are several places he can go which are more of a sure thing than Toronto. Ohtani is a great ball player like Matthews is a great hockey player. But like 34 he's never won jack shit so assuming that an Ohtani signing equals a parade is setting yourself up for disappointment.
Does it have to be an either or proposition? It's not like every other free agent available other than Ohtani is shit.
Rooting for hockey teams from Toronto is what makes your life less enjoyable.
