especially when he hits better than the previous guy 4 out of 6 monthsThe better deal for a defensive specialist with a questionable bat is obviously a 2 year deal at 7.5M a year. Much better shared risk with a deal like that.
The Cubs remain in the mix for Cody Bellinger, Rhys Hoskins and Jordan Montgomery but haven’t been aggressive enough to get close to signing any of them, according to major-league sources.
are your surprised Hicks has not signed with anyone ?You guys have galaxy brained the perfect solution.
Just play guys in the months they hit well, and then sit them out when they’re not going to hit well. Pay everyone accordingly.
Possibly but i'd rather just thank him for what he did last year and move on to a safer option regardless.is Belt retiring?
I assume he's waiting for Hader to signare your surprised Hicks has not signed with anyone ?
Giants just moved Haniger for Robbie Ray, creates an opening for Bellinger i assumeInteresting... from Jim Bowden Midterm MLB offseason grades article
Because supposedly, Belly has been down to the Jays and Cubs.... He did go on to say that the Jays are more likely to re-sign Chapman than sign Belly, and he said that the Giants are also in on these guys.
Jordan Hicks or Aaron Hicks?are your surprised Hicks has not signed with anyone ?
JordanJordan Hicks or Aaron Hicks?
Now the Giants have room to purchase a new appliance that manager Bob Melvin would find more useful. Like a certain Gold Glove third baseman who slices and dices and juliennes with the best of them. No, it isn’t in Zaidi’s interests to characterize the Giants as dead-set on signing Matt Chapman — there’s never a need to give more leverage than necessary to a Scott Boras client — but it seems like such an eventuality at this point that when Zaidi mentions other possibilities, it almost seems like misdirection.
“We like the group that we have and I think we can certainly go into the season with it, but one of the areas of need is probably upgrading our infield defense,” Zaidi said. “It’s always possible there’s a trade that lines up that way. But as it stands now, we like our outfield group. We’d be fine going into the year with it. We frankly still could add somebody to that mix with Mitch being traded today. Lots of things still on the table there. The most direct answer I can give it is does mean our outfield is set.”
The Giants are likely to roll with Jung Hoo Lee in center field, a platoon of Mike Yastrzemski and Austin Slater in right field and Michael Conforto primarily in left field. With Haniger out of the picture, it’ll be easier to carry Luis Matos or Heliot Ramos or Wade Meckler as a fifth outfielder — or Blake Sabol as a 26th man who could serve as a third catcher and bench bat.
I imagine he’s waiting to see if he can get a 4th year or something like that. Don’t think we’ve seen any deals longer than 3 yet for RP, and this is Hicks’ best chance to cash in long term.Jordan
