OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

It’s obviously my jealousy speaking but the dodgers are bullshit.

This should be the leafs in the NHL. Can pay our greedy shits 20 million each.

If you're gonna go for it, go for it. Good on Teo for cashing in - he probably would have gotten like 2/30 or 3/40, but get a big one year deal, get 150 RBI batting in that Dodgers lineup as the protection right after Freeman or Ohtani, and then cash in next year. Dodgers lineup is pretty LH heavy too, which Teo should balance.

It’s sweet that the only Toronto sports team that has the ability and inclination to spend like this (and is also a legit free agent destination in its league) also happens to be the only Toronto sports team in a league with a hard salary cap.

Just cool and good.

Im no longer pro Shatkins, but i think its very possible you can do much worse.

At least Shapiro got Rogers to spend.

Atkins is probably entirely replaceable though, but his replacement will probably be in charge of a soft rebuild or opportunistic risk adverse re-tool.

So it doesnt matter

but i think its very possible you can do much worse.

How?

Winning 85-90 games a year with a big payroll is pretty shit, and inB4 "lol, but Yankees" the same management has built teams that have won 99, 103, & 100 games within the last 6 years. Literally half of the last embarassing past 6 seasons for Yankees fans have been spent as a ~100 win. team.

In fact, in the AL East over those same 6 seasons, we're the only team with a high water mark in the low 90's

Yankees: 103
Boston: 108
Orioles: 101
Rays: 100
Jays: 92

Shit, lets get the rest of the AL in for fun.

Houston: 107
Minnesota: 101
Oakland: 97
Cleveland: 93
White Sox: 93
Rangers: 90
Seattle: 90
Anaheim: 80
Detroit: 78
KC: 74

This is the product of a near decade long "rebuild" and Rogers letting them spend. Mediocrity. I'd rather they crash and burn than be mediocre. At least change occurs when things crash and burn.

ah, yet another round of bashing based on (checks notes) Chicago signing a guy.

fact remains, as always, 3 playoff appearances in 4 years and missed the other by 1 game.

so yes, it absolutely could be much worse.

"fact"

Are the wild card games even in "the playoffs"? In the NBA, they call those the "play ins".

Going 0-6 in the play ins over the last 4 years isn't the flex you think it is.
