it does seem unlikely at this point, but the team I've heard the most re: Chapman is the Giants ... obviously they could sign both guys but the Soler signing could also mean they're out on him.
 
The Jays have the 6th highest payroll in MLB right now. 3 million behind Philly and 4 million behind Houston. Even a cheap 4th OF puts them in the top 4. So yeah, we’re done.

The Giants are still about $23M below last year, so they should have room for Chapman if they want.

Wait....why? Small sample, but his defence at 2B was average or plus depending on whose metrics you like best.

Also, and kind of fucking crucially, they already have 3 starting OF and not a single starting calibre 2B or 3B.

You're getting your scouting info from Jonas now? Early in the offseason someone said he may get a look in the OF, that is all. Probably depending on who they signed or traded for.

Im just going by what was reported on At the Letters by BNS and Shi.

Dont fucking ask me to explain it.
 
No garble. They've hit their budget so to add means we lose off the roster.

Unless some teams want to give us much better players for ours and the money also matches, which of course teams will be lining up to do, this is the roster.
