I’m glad Jansen looks good so far. Always worry about a player coming back from a broken wrist/hand. Jansen is expert at coming back from injuries though!

Best Lineup based on Last Calendar Year Stats:

(I don't actually think the smaller sample guys have earned spots ahead of some of the fulltime guys but I'll go with wRC+ here just for fun)

* 1. 3B Clement 101pa, .333babip, 130wrc+, 6.4war/650pa
* 2. LF Schneider 197pa, .323babip, 157wrc+, 6.9war/650pa

Again i wouldn't actually put the part time guys ahead of the full time guys based on only slightly better stats.

In fact, the current top of the lineup is still what you want to to use unless we see some significantly different performances over a larger sample, so based on both usage and performance, using only past calendar year stats, I wouldn't touch the top 4 as of yet, and while i'd lineup the bottom 5 like this, i wouldn't mind switching that bottom 5 all up based on hotness or matchups. BUT, i do think i'd lean towards these 9 being the "starters" for now, though to be fair Falefa has been earning his playing time so far and Clement has by far the smallest and most unreliable sample.

* 1. RF Springer 691pa, .293babip, 111wrc+, 2.4war/650pa
* 2. 1B Guerrero 690pa, .264babip, 109wrc+, 0.6war/650pa
* 3. SS Bichette 597pa, .339babip, 115wrc+, 3.5war/650pa
* 4. DH Turner 609pa, .311babip, 121wrc+, 1.5war/650pa
* 5. LF Schneider 197pa, .323babip, 157wrc+, 6.9war/650pa
* 6. C Jansen 275pa, .247babip, 129wrc+, 5.2war/650pa
* 7. 2B Biggio 365pa, .335babip, 113wrc+, 2.7war/650pa
* 8. 3B Clement 101pa, .333babip, 130wrc+, 6.4war/650pa
* 9. CF Varsho 573pa, .258babip, 97wrc+, 3.5war/650pa

* X. PH Vogelbach 290pa, .270babip, 102wrc+, 0.0war/650pa

Yeah I'd probably just stick with the projections for now in terms of making out the lineup.

Barger plays a pretty good 3B. He might be the best option there already. Second: Orelvis, Third: Clement, Fourth: Turner.

Manoah was complaining about his arm being hurt last year and earlier this year. Medical Staff couldn;'t find anything. I doubt he's concealing anything.

🤷🏻

It’s the most likely explanation for a pitcher to suddenly lose all command of the strike zone.

to be fair to IKF, he has been quite good so far. It wont continue, it's a stupid signing and an overpay, but to this point he's not even close to a problem.

the biggest problems are

1) Vlad is a generic 1B
2) Kirk and Springer cant hit
3) He's injured now, but Kevin Kiermaier being locked in as a nightmare bat basically helps lock in a terrible offense.
4) John Schneider is terrible at managing a very fringe bench
5) Bo is struggling.

Im not entirely sure which of these issues are fixable besides Bo at the moment

Oh sure, IKF has been fine so far but also let’s quit while we’re ahead. It’s not like they don’t know who IKF is as a player. If they carefully manage his AB, he can still add some value as a defensive replacement and PR. Barger, Orelvis and Clement all have some degree of unknown potential as hitters and can handle 3B defensively.

IKF fits fine on this roster as a 26th man utility guy. The fact he’s overpaid shouldn’t dictate his playing time going forward.

They not only see him as an everyday player the fucking manager let him hit for himself down 1 in the 8th with a man on vs a RHP with Vogelbach on the bench, so yeah, he's a major god damn problem long term, just not a top 5 one at the moment.

losing a series on a 1 run game called exactly after 5 (after pushing through a torrent over the last inning and a half) would be some bullshit.
