When I was there (granted, been a few) we paid a guy to take a few of us from riomaggiore to monterosso. Not a tour. You don’t need too much time - The villages look awesome from the water.

We’re hikers/walkers (well, wifey and me) so madame will likely insist on some trail time. Then it’s beach time to appease the younger set.

Some of the trails are still off limits due the landslides a few years back. The upper trails are all ok, but the Sentiero Azzurro is still up.

Thats too bad. I remember 2 things: sweating my balls off and spending more money on a Gatorade at a shop in the dead middle of the trail than I spent on any meal over 2+ months in Europe.

A few of the trails between towns are not that tough. Was there maybe 5 years ago, beautiful spot. I have some time in Italy next week, almost opted to go back but timing didn't work for me and couldn't find a place I liked. Opted for a few days near Tuscan countryside instead

Speaking of recommendations I’m traveling to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan this summer. Anybody had any experience in any of these countries?

I avoid Europe in Summer. September is fantastic to travel. Still warm (But more comfortable) and not that many tourists

Hey..I'm going there in August. Cruise from venice to split and Dubrovnik followed by Greece then I'm driving across italy for four days in Cinque terre.staying in riomagglia (spelling)..then driving back up through parma to venice for three days at the end
