He’s still a terrible scoundrel. He’s just acting according to his own interests.

And it’s definitely not in Turkey’s interests for a resurgent and expansionist Imperial Russia to grab control of basically the entirety of the Black Sea coast opposite of Turkey to the north.

It’s also in their interests for Ukraine to be indebted to Turkey.
