I was honestly shocked that Bolsonaro seemed to be going off gently into the sunset. I thought for sure he’d try a Trump-style insurrection to stay in power, if he wasn’t able to manage a coup backed by the military or security services.
So, the only surprise here really is that this didn’t happen until after the transfer of power/inauguration.
This should also be a reminder that there will 100% be another Republican coup attempt come 2024.
