OT: World Politics

There was a huge amount of protest re: Vietnam, though mostly by the college cohort.

But, yeah, another imperialist war.

(Not a “both sides” thing, Russia doesn’t get a pass because of past US imbroglios.)

iirc Soviets went in to prop uo a left wing govt in Kabul and ended up fighting the mujahadeen which ended up morphing into the Taliban

I *think* (not sure) the US trained/supported a Vietnamese guerilla group to fight the Japanese in WWII. That group later morphed into the Viet Cong. We know what happened next. Today, the general public of Vietnam have arguably the greatest favourable opinion of the US in the world & are allies of a sort (the enemy of my enemy is my friend - China in this case)

Yeah, this has been simmering for a while. Big time rivalry between Wagner and the military. Wagner failing to take Bakhmut has caused the military to stop treating them like superstars, getting all the ammo and assets they ask for etc and they're apparently being treated like any other group in the military...which means they're short on everything now and hate it.

You're talking about the Montagnards, I believe.

I'm looking on multiple mexican news sources both English and Spanish and I'm not seeing this covered. Frum might be overstating whats going on here. La Reforma specifically would be all over the pending collapse of mexican democracy and a return to the old politics
