OT: World Politics

Someone who knows a lot of things about a lot of things summarize what I need to know. about the Germany elections. (MindzGPT)

What zeke said...

Basically, Merkels old party is going to win, but they've taken a right turn since her time and the hope is that the combined vote between them and the afd doesn't combine to make a majority as there are concerns that they might actually form a coalition.

Whats hopefully more likely is that the CDU is strong enough on their own to build individual coalitions as needed for each vote. CDU does want to significantly change immigration policy though, which the afd obviously supports

The good news is that Merz is pro EU, pro Ukraine, a hawk on European defence, etc. So a coalition marriage with afd would be weird and hard to keep together

“Fighting with arms and legs is something anyone can do. Fighting without them — that’s a challenge,” Rubliuk said. “But only those who take on challenges and fight through them are truly alive.”

Not a super great outcome in Germany, though it might be because the left is split among three parties. East Germany remains mired in resentment.

What's it going to take to get this guy to do the right thing?

And this is why the Russians will never "win" this war. The Ukies will fight to the death, like Ricardo Montalban in "Wrath of Khan". The Russians will have to kill every man, woman and child inside Ukraine to even have a chance of not being bled white.

They should have started doing this 3 years ago. And considering how much Russian oligarch money was (and likely still is) being laundered in the UK, Britain should have been seizing and funneling to Ukraine.

Close to the polling but it looks like AFD and CDU came in a little lower than expected and SPD Green and Left a tick higher than expected so overally a good result showing a bit of pullback from the momentum that the right has before trump and elon took over.

Elon's open embrace of AFD didn't seem to help and may have hurt them.
