OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

Yes but also....Yan is only 2 yrs older than Sugar. If he can't compete with him now, that shit isn't changing over the next 24 months.

I don’t worry about age as much - he can catch up still over time. Yan has a really good path to victory with beating the shit out of sugar on the ground for three rounds.

But you would think after how dull he looked in his last fight that he wouldn’t take this huge step up until he could beat someone in the lower end of the top 10 first. He didn’t pass that test at all and it showed that he doesn’t have a plan B if his boxing isn’t working well.

This fight should tell us a lot about O'Malley.

O'Malley looks great against lower-level competition, but hasn't been up to snuff against the top of the division. And I get the feeling that he might be a little brittle. His loss to Vera came from a leg injury, and he barely won a fight against some dude who just fought one of the dumbest fights I ever saw.

He was losing against Munhoz before the eye poke.

If some of you can find last night's Dana White Contender Series fights, 100% recommend.

I don't think there's a future superstar in any of those fighters, but all of those fights were fucking spectacular.

(If any of you need help finding it, message me)

Truthfully, I went to bed halfway through round 4 and I'm not even mad I missed the ending to the fight.

He's clearly the better of the two fighters and there's no doubt in my mind he'll win the third fight, but his aura of invincibility is gone and this might end up being good for him in terms of marketability and getting people to buy his future PPVs. He's now beatable and he's starting to get up there in age. He becomes someone who can be beaten, and I would now give Khamzat a legitimate chance at defeating him.

I actually think they match up more evenly than people expected (I placed a bet on Edwards to win with the crazy almost +1000 odds). Rocky gassed after round 1, but showed he can grapple with him and has a skill set that can still compete & not get finished even when he’s gassed. I wouldn’t assume Usman will bounce back with a W. I don’t think Edwards was lying too afterwards when he said he just gassed out like everyone basically was cause of Utah. Plus rematch is gonna be in london.

Got a UFC card this afternoon in Paris.

Cyril Gane - Tai Tuivasa as the headliner, and Robert Whitaker - Marvin "The Italian Meathead" Vettori as the co-headliner. Charles Jourdain against Nathaniel Wood should be fun too. Rest of the card is a big fat glorified regional level show with fighters you'd see in Cage Warriors, M-1, LFA, etc.
