Drama for UFC 279.

Nate Diaz, Khamzat Chimaev & Kevin Holland kinda got into a bit of a skirmish backstage yesterday, and today Khamzat missed weight by close to eight pounds. UFC is now looking to possibly make a backup fight (Nate Vs Tony? Fucking yes, sign me up for that.)

the fuck? who does he think he is, Rumble Johnson?

I think Chimaev would’ve dummied Nate anyways. Ferguson-Nate will be a pure, entertaining slugfest. Unless some ref makes a dumb stoppage. Chimaev may kill Holland after their scrum or maybe he’ll be too emotional and get caught. The other fight...who cares? Lol

The only reason Chimaev was put up against Nate was because Nate's on the last fight of his deal & wants to test free agency. The UFC was always telling him, re-sign and we'll give you a better suited fight, but Diaz has always wanted to test free agency to see what he'd really be worth. So the UFC tried over & over to give him the toughest, worst stylistic match-up possible as a fuck you Nate, good luck with that kick on the way out.

Diaz-Ferguson is a fantastic fight that should have happened 4-5-6 years ago, but better now than never.

I'm of the opinion that they should take the handful of older 155ers that aren't becoming champions (Diaz, Ferguson, Poirier, Gaethje, Chandler, McGregor, Hooker, RDA, Masvidal) and just have 'em fight each other at 170lbs. Just make their lives easier, enough with this weight cutting shit for no reason, we all know they're lightweights and they weight in the 170lbs range on fight night away.

See if some of the smaller welterweights like Luque would like to participate from time to time too.

No idea if that quote is real or not, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was.

I fucking love this sport, lol

Didn't catch the fight...but isn't Holland a bit of an overhyped can at this point?
Depends on what you think he is.

A future champion? I think that's going to be nigh-impossible for him and if someone thinks that's what he could be, then yeah he's overhyped.

But as a gatekeeper that has entertaining fights? I think that's about right for him.

In his time in the UFC, Kevin Holland's only lost to top tier fighters with the exception of Brendan Allen. Thiago Santos, Derek Brunson, Marvin Vettori and now Khamzat. All those guys are at the top of their divisions.

I think Holland's going to be that perrenial top-5 to 7 guy, that if you have a new & upcoming fighter, you send him to fight Holland if you want to find out if he's for real or not. I'd love to see Holland fight someone like Rhahkmonov next.

If some of you don't follow MMA news/politics and want to know a lot of the backstory behind Nate Diaz's fight last weekend, I strongly recommend watching the first hour or so of Ariel Helwani's show on Monday. It's superb.
