OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

I haven't heard of an opponent switch on the day of the fight at high level MMA since the very early days of MMA.

I forget the dude's name, but there was a fight scheduled & during the event, one of the fighters got sick or injured during warm-ups, I can't quite recall. In the crowd, there was a fighter & they asked him if he wanted to fill-in. He did and 2-3 hours later, they fought.

This sport is so fucking nutty.

Wasn't the fight I was thinking of, but Kimbo Slice was supposed to fight Ken Shamrock, but Shamrock got a cut over his eye a few hours before the fight.

They replace Shamrock with Seth Petruzelli and Kimbo was KO'ed in 14 seconds, effectively killing Elite XC and Kimbo's hype.

Hope he goes to heavyweight to stay away from pure grapplers. Just so much fun to watch that man on his feet do his thing.

In a sport filled with Chael Sonnens, Conor McGregors and Colby Covingtons, be like Alex Pereira. An actual badass who will fuck your shit up.

100%. Arlovski has a sneaky case for being one of the five best heavyweights in MMA history just because of how long his career's gone on.

Fedor's the unquestioned #1, Stipe is probably #2 and Noguera #3. After that, you can make real arguments for Mir, Werdum, Vovchanchyn, Arlovski, Velasquez, Cormier, Sylvia, Cro Cop.

A fun little debate to have.

I was reminded of two things watching that fight

1) Remember Mike Tyson's Punchout? Where your character in the foreground looked tiny compared to everyone you fought? Yeah, Jake Paul looked twice the size of Mike Perry.

2) The Simpsons episode where Homer becomes a boxer. His strategy in that episode is that he has the superhuman ability to take damage until the other guy gets tired and Homer would push him over. Mike Perry trained in the same gym I think.
