OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

One of the things this shows is that there should be a 195 pound weight class as well. Having to move up 20 pounds to challenge another weight class is kind of crazy.

Props to Izzy for giving this a run, but just too much size difference.

I've long bitched about "lay and pray", and Jan didn't quite lay and pray, but it was close. Was active enough and spent the time and effort to advance position to earn the rounds for wrestling, but he didn't do a whole lot with the positional control until that flurry at the end.
 
that was a great card. Almost made the parlay. What was I thinking betting that Nunes would win by decision and not KO? Fuck
 
Pretty good UFC card tonight, all things considered.

But yeah, Marvin Haggler dying was a real bummer.

Dustin #1 wants the money fight and Gaethje #2 just got smushed in a title fight. This would be Dustin's fight against Oliveira or Chandler if he wanted it. Dustin is no dummy though. Dana has built a horseshit marketing system where the belts mean next to nothing and money fights are everything and Dustin has figured out what Masvidal figured out a few years ago: Fuck the belt, pay me.
 
Getting smashed by the former champ - meh. Don’t put as much into it.

Last fight was a title shot, and got smashed. Not a remotely interesting fight to watch. Nothing wrong with making him earn another title shot. July is only 4 months away man, Dustin isn't fighting twice (and risking his pay day) in 4 months.

think chandler getting a shot after beating a guy who wasn’t yet a contender is meh. Don’t see why he should be getting this shot atm.

Dustin getting the belt and then fighting the Irish ☘️ would be huge for more interest and getting ppv share as a champ.. And he he doesn’t win - he can still fight mcGregor and people will still watch.

I don’t have much excitement for that fight as it stands. And July is the earliest per reports. Could fall to august or September which gives even more time between fights.
 
Dustin fighting Conor is what Dustin wants though, why risk his money fight by catching an injury or something? The belt will be there for him to take a run at after he gets his money. He's already been an interim champion. Why not whip Conor for lots of money and then go beat the champ?
 
That works assuming he beats Conor (though I think he should). If he gets caught with a hook and loses - that puts him getting a shot at the belt prob a year + away. Think the easier fight is for the belt, weirdly enough. PPV money as champ I believe is more than what he got paid for his last fight with Conor from the DC podcast.
