Pierre-Luc Dubois Thread

Better than some and worse than others. I have a hard time believing Kings are willing to part with Byfield or Villardi and some rumors have those guys (separately) as part of a package with other prospects and picks. I’m calling bluff.
Chevaldayoff’s trying desperately to create market demand - I just don’t see Jets netting much more than Trouba deal… marginally more at that.

Villardi is no big loss

The biggest stumbling block is the stupid money the agents will demand

Helly probably wants 9.5 and PLD 8.5

Dan Robertson Habs former radio play-by-play now doing TV for Jets - worth a listen from regarding PLDs supposed attitude issues, Jets fans coveting a blue collar type team etc. Around 14-min mark:

Where are the time marks? The slide doesn't give me any. On lock screen is does. Not on safari.

Anyway, the Habs should make one last serious push for PLD. He had a good year and I suspect he will be really strong for the next 5-6 years.

But it has to be at the right price. Dach and #5 are not on the table.

They're going to get something for him, even if it's for one year, so the Habs would have to pay for it. Truthfully, I'd be ok with Anderson and a lesser D prospect and the Panthers pick. Anderson is useful sure but injured a lot. The first is to save face. This should be for a signed PLD though. Anderson's cap hit will take care of 75% of PLD's cap hit.

League sources have confirmed to me that agent Pat Brisson of CAA Hockey has a list that includes other teams, not just Montreal and L.A., as he and the Jets fully explore what I believe is a pretty robust market for the RFA center.

The Kings are interesting, though, because they were among the teams that looked at Dubois when he asked out of Columbus. But their cap situation this summer doesn’t marry too well with Dubois’ potential contract demands, although L.A. obviously would be moving players back to Winnipeg in any potential deal. Still, at the moment, it feels like heavy lifting for a Kings team still needing to address its situation in net as well.
