Pierre-Luc Dubois Thread

They never want to come to Montreal, they just say so they can get a better deal out of someone else. They can go get Lafreniere and try a develop him into one, liked they tried and failed to do with Drouin.
true, I only want to play for Montreal, signs extension with Kings...

If Dubois gets traded to LA and doesn’t sign the extension, I will give him some credit. Huberdeau talked the same way entering the year before he becomes a UFA, but took the extension from Calgary right away instead of going to free agency.

Well, I think the only way the trade happens is if Dubois agrees to a contract with them. If he isn't willing to sign there, I doubt the trade would happen.

I think Dubois would be one of the dumbest fucking people on earth if he didn't sign a contract in LA if they were willing to get him.

It'll be the only time in his entire life that he'll have that much leverage over a team. If he truly wants $9M? If he's not getting that, it won't be far away.

Huberdeau got a contract that was virtually identical to the Price deal. Same AAV, $51.5M in signing bonus as opposed to $60M in signing bonus for Price.

taxes in California, leaving aside the crime and homelessness, are shit but as Randy Newman sang, everybody's always happy cause the sun is shining all the time

There is a pretty big difference between wanting to play for Montreal and turning down stupid money in order to do so. Those players have agents and are not that stupid.

Yes there is but should the big stupid money still not be available Dubois next summer? This would give the Habs the opportunity to make Dubois their best offer and if the money is not enough, he can still get the big payday somewhere else.

You think the same stupid money would be available to Huberdeau this summer?

You have every team available to offer a contract to UFA Huberdeau, not just Calgary, he get crazy money it close to it. There would be pressure the Habs to offer at least Suzuki’s contract or more to secure the local player.

Wait, so you really think Huberdeau gets close to 84M for 8 years after a 55 points season????

Huberdeau could have had the exact same season as he did before the Florida trade and he wouldn't have had as much ground to stand on.

Huberdeau was the central piece in a major trade. Calgary would have looked like complete and abject fools if they didn't re-sign him, which is what gave him all that leverage to get the deal he got.

It's like when we signed Josh Anderson. We gave a third line winger 7 years @ $5.5M because he had us by the balls. It's very unlikely he would have gotten that as a UFA.

He would have still gotten around 10M. This summer he might had been lucky to get something around 20M over 3 years.

Selective memory…….view Calgary’s season as a bit of a tire fire, choose to focus on his last few years in Florida. He could potentially get close to the Calgary number, especially if agent gets a bidding war started. He did not have to press too much in Calgary this year because he had the extension already. He may have worked harder knowing he did not a contract in place.
