He says he wont sign "with terms" meaning he could still sign one year according to this article.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and his camp informed the Jets a year ago that they weren’t inclined to sign long-term, and now my understanding is that veteran agent Pat Brisson has let Winnipeg know that it’s probably best to move on this summer rather than do a one-year deal with the restricted free agent and stretch this out further.
In short, they’ve let the Jets know that Dubois won’t re-sign with them this summer and are hoping the sides can work together to facilitate a trade that works for everyone.

If push comes to shove, I think he’ll sign a one year deal but neither the Jets or PLD wants that.
Or he can work on an oil rig for a 100k
and sigh, we will not get another french star
First of all, PLD is not a star. Second, who cares that he’s French? Third, I wouldn’t trade any of our top prospects (Hutson, Meilloux) for him, nor Dach nor the 5OA pick. PLD is a good complementary player but hardly a difference-maker worth giving up too much for.

They never want to come to Montreal, they just say so they can get a better deal out of someone else. They can go get Lafreniere and try a develop him into one, liked they tried and failed to do with Drouin.

Here's the thing with Dubois. He's not a star, and we already have our #2 center with Suzuki. I get that he would make this team better, but we're not contenders with him and his next contract will always be a pain in the ass.
Bullshit & other factors aside, you know what the best place in the league for Dubois would be? Deadmonton.
He's precisely the type of player they need to play behind McDavid.
