I find it interesting none of Friedman, LeBrun, Seravalli or Chris Johnson have made any reference to the LAK offer this weekend…

The only people who seem to have any “insight” seem to be Winter-peg beat writers (Ates & Billeck).

If I was a conspiracy theorist I’d be inclined to say Chevaldayoff’s desperately trying to use them to create market demand that just isn’t there…
 
LAK will likely be worse if they make that rumored trade (Vilardi and Iafollo) for PLD. PLD might well be the best player of the three but it seems like too much to trade for him. He’s a 65 point player, not an 80 point player.

Thats a fair deal , no big loss losing those 2 and Villardi already had 2 back surgeries

The only issue is how much stupid money PLD gets

I think it's a fair deal too. PLD is an upgrade on Villardi who's only 1 year younger and also needs a new contract. Iafallo is a good player but 29 with 2 years remaining at 4M so that's short term value. Kings win that trade, I'd expect a pick to be added by the Kings.
 


It sure feels like the Kings are front-runners on Pierre-Luc Dubois, but as of Sunday evening, there was still lots of work to be done on that front. It didn’t help that both front offices were traveling Sunday to Nashville, putting some conversations on hold.

The Habs have tried here, for sure, but it sounds like they’re simply not as good a trade fit for a Jets team that doesn’t want to rebuild. The Kings can provide players who can step into the Jets lineup right away.

Again, there’s still work to be done here. Not to mention the fact that even after both teams put the trade parameters together, the Kings will want to know they can sign Dubois, who is a restricted free agent. Those contract conversations haven’t happened yet, either. The Jets and Kings would both need to feel comfortable a trade was in the final stages before the Kings got to that conversation with the Jets’ blessing.

Is Chevaldayof using this tactic to get HuGo to bend? Recall, Pacioretty saying no to LAK (thankfully) despite a deal having been agreed to?

As I said from the get-go, I'd like to have PLD but not at any price. He's a nice-to-have complimentary player, not a must-have player and the Habs aren't a team that is presently in need of him because they aren't a PLD away from winning anything. You make the Jets and Dubois a take it or leave it offer and bid them good day. They have your number if they're interested. No need to negotiate anything. Here's our offer. accept it or don't.
 
PLD holds all the cards, sure he gave a list of teams to Jets, but that doesn’t mean he’ll actually sign longterm / let alone sign a deal with them.

IF PLD wants to desperately play for Habs …. he’ll end up being dealt to Habs.

I’m very curious of the under the table / back room dialogue that has been / is going on with PLD/Habs, and how it’s being done circumventing tampering rules

Hughes sent Caufield as his emissary to the Grand Prix to hang out with PLD and have a word in his shell-like ear about how to engineer a move to the Habs.

If he gets moved it comes with a signed extension , he can be that dumb

Look at Hubredeau , he would of pissed away 50 mil if he didnt take the 8 year deal
