Rumors: 2024-25 Season

That's all you need to be today as a goalie because you basically have to be at least 6'3" like he is to play as one in the NHL. That's why I'm not sold on Devon Levi, or our guy Fowler. 6'1'' is almost small today for an NHL 'keeper.
Isn't Fowler 6'2?

Do u really want the Habs to go down the Buf, Sens, Edm, Leafs path of accepting never ending losing culture?

The Habs are achieving success presently on the backs of their young players … that’s goodness, it’s what a team needs if they want to eventually gain sustained success

Don’t get the miserable outlook..
So the Habs for 30 years. Rather not do another 30 of patch jobs and no plan.

Maybe but 6'2" isn't 6'3" and that seems to be just the minimum height "requirement" today for an NHL goalie. The Czech goalie that 'Zona drafted, Hrabal, is 6'6", isn't he?
It's on the smaller side for sure, but Carter Hart is 6'2 as well, and not as big as Fowler.

well remember how when we took a 5'11 guy we were told it is basically six feet and 5'10 is basically 5'11 which is basically 6'0. ergo 6'2 is basically 6'3

Monahan for Rutger McGroarty would be excite me to no end.

A more realistic option, though?

Monahan for our 2nd round pick (originally traded to Arizona for Dvorak) and the rights to Dmitry Rashevsky.
Did you not get the memo? The Habs are not in the business of employing Russian players anymore.

Chevaldayoff is a miser, as he needs to be as GM of that small market team.

A Winter-peg, late 2nd round pick for Monahan is a complete & utter worthless waste - he’s better off guiding the young Habs team in what’s shaping up to be a run at a wildcard spot, that experience will be beneficial for the future
We need to trade assets as fast as possible to quash that wild card run. We need to be moving down, not up.

1> We are competing next year, that means we could potentially add a FA this offseason.
2> The goal isn't to win the cup, it's to make the playoffs consistently (you have to make the playoffs to win the cup (tell that to Leafs fans)
3> If the goal is just making the playoffs and giving the false belief we can win the cup every year then the team makes more money and fans are happy. Wait it sounds like the same plan we've been using the last 30 years, small rebuild then try to compete. But we've sucked for a bit so even the mere sign of hope is enough for Habs fans to buy the plan again.
4> Patience killed the cat, habs fans don't have that which is why 2 + 3 will happen
NO, NO, NO!!!

THE GOAL IS TO WIN THE FUCKING CUP!

Achieving anything less than that is failure and failure is not something to which one should aspire. I don't give a shit about being a playoff contender every year. If you aren't a Cup contender it's a pointless exercise. If the height of your ambition is to squeak into 8th place every year and pray for miracles, you may as well give up on ever seeing a Cup parade ever again.

You don't pursue mere "success". You pursue PERFECTION, knowing all the while that perfection is impossible. But in the pursut of perfection you give yourself the chance to catch EXCELLENCE.

Wildcard spots are not excellence by any measure and 8th place teams do not win championships. It's the same mediocrity but with 2 playoff gates for Molson to pocket.

Stop settling and start demanding. Tank and rebuild. Accept that there are no shortcuts a d that it will take however long it takes. Stop aspiring to meaningless accomplishments like playoff berths.

It was actually curiosity that killed it, not patience. Curiosity is what powers impatience. Like "I'm curious as to what it would be like to be a playoff team?" leading to the Habs being buyers at the deadline, for example.

you need to accept we are never winning again in your lifetime. Jr is 20 and has accepted his fate. Once you accept it, you can be happy watching and not have unachievable expectations.

I don't necessarily agree if we ended up with a top 7 pick and traded Matheson/Money/Savard for a decent prospect/pick. If those things happen I'll change my tune.
