Rumors: 2024-25 Season

Chevaldayoff is a miser, as he needs to be as GM of that small market team.

A Winter-peg, late 2nd round pick for Monahan is a complete & utter worthless waste - he’s better off guiding the young Habs team in what’s shaping up to be a run at a wildcard spot, that experience will be beneficial for the future
Getting nothing if he gets hurt first is a complete and utter worthless waste of time

Mony needs to get moved , you can revisit bringing him back on the Bergeron " Really fucken cheap deal " in the summer

He is helping a team that will have another 6-10 players go in a year or so , rebuild is nowhere near over

Team is hanging on by Monty and others stealing points , nothing else

Hugo has to keep building the asset and depth base by dumping assets who wont be around

Our time to navigate winning is a 1-2 years away , patience and more patience

1> We are competing next year, that means we could potentially add a FA this offseason.
2> The goal isn't to win the cup, it's to make the playoffs consistently (you have to make the playoffs to win the cup (tell that to Leafs fans)
3> If the goal is just making the playoffs and giving the false belief we can win the cup every year then the team makes more money and fans are happy. Wait it sounds like the same plan we've been using the last 30 years, small rebuild then try to compete. But we've sucked for a bit so even the mere sign of hope is enough for Habs fans to buy the plan again.
4> Patience killed the cat, habs fans don't have that which is why 2 + 3 will happen

Do u really want the Habs to go down the Buf, Sens, Edm, Leafs path of accepting never ending losing culture?

The Habs are achieving success presently on the backs of their young players … that’s goodness, it’s what a team needs if they want to eventually gain sustained success

Don’t get the miserable outlook..

Not sure that he understands, or at least wants to acknowledge, the organic nature of this.

Fans have a ton of patience , stands are full watching an improved product and seeing some direction to a rebuild

No moves pushed the playoff window so far and I dont expect any

Half this team still needs to be flushed out

That organic nature also includes young players “l’esprit d’équipe” rubbing off on veterans HuGo hope to build a market demand for to be able move for dare I say assets…

like Armia working his arse off on every shift last night and being a physical beast he can be, Gallagher getting revitalized etc

You not winning shit with Armia and the revitalized Gally on pace for 11 goals

You need star talent something we have none

Can’t remember last time a team won a Cup without being deep… I can recall teams winning without a PPG player (if that’s what star is defined as)

Two reasons the playoff push isn't as annoying this year:
- Most of the improvement is from Slaf, Caufield (who was injured last year) and surprises from prospects like Struble and Roy instead of plugs like Harvey-Pinard and Belzile
- After Celebrini, there isn't really anyone who sticks out and is really worth tanking for (and Celebrini is no Bedard either)

Common findings amongst Cup winning teams :

able to score 260G+ during a season, while limiting GA < 240 and possess depth across the entire starting lineup (Fwd, D and G) - there’s no one right or wrong way in team building towards achieving these milestones

Buf, Edm, Sens, Leafs are able to achieve former (GF) but not latter (GA). Also they’re not able to continue that level of consistency into the playoffs when games are tighter

As for playoffs need some luck, EVERY team has unfavorable matchups and of course being able to maintain health
