Rumors: 2024-25 Season

It's time for Habsy's Strain of the Night rumors, I actually wrote it down.

Hughes is trying to trade up to #4 but not for a player, but because Anaheim said they won't drop further than 4.

So he's trying to figure out how to acquire 4 to flip to Anaheim for two. Clean the cupboard of overstock a bit and get Fantilli.

Somewhat like what he did to get Dach.

Ohh yeah? Source? Lol. I believe you, I’m just really having trouble thinking Anaheim would trade down past a pick swap with Columbus. Feel these rumours are just wishful thinking but I would blow my load if it happened

Dude read the first sentence. This is shit I think up at night when I medicate.

And before Krusty chimes in with yet another banal "reality check", this is from an alternate state so stfu already 🙂.

So this would only apply if they somehow wanted Michkov over Fantilli. Highly unlikely but bear with me here;

If Verbeek has decided that he would want Michkov then why not get more assets? If he's convinced Bedard and Fantilli go top two then CBJ will take a center, likely Carlsson but could be Smith. That means SJ is the wildcard. Now why would you trade a second for for a wildcard, it's bad enough that Columbus can take him but they're playing the strong odds that they won't.

They take Michkov at 4.

Hughes calls up Verbeek and asks what's it going to take and he gets that as his answer.

Question is what is the cost to move from 5 to 4 then what is the cost to move from 4 to 2.

This type of scenario seems right up Hughes' alley.

Yeah that was great stuff last night.

Not really , if he can settle in that 50 point range 4 millish is ok

Plus inked for his entire prime career and can be bought out before 26 at 1/3 cap , not a problem contract
Yes its a good contract or Carolina. KK must have known he would be average at best. He bet against himself developing into a player worth more than 4.8 per year. I recall GGpX stating something like this at the time. Now it his self fulfilling prophecy. I expected more from him, shows how blind and hopefull a fan can be at draft time.

Take the money and life security

To your point, KK was a definite reach at #3. Most mocks had him going 7 or 8, mainly due to the fact that he was considered the best centre prospect in a very weak C class.

The scouts were bang on. Take a look at the other Cs drafted in the first round. Fugly. KK looks amazing in comparison

Habs paid the price for being desperate.
