Summer 2024/January 2025 Transfer Thread

Fabrizio Romano reporting that Diaby to All Ittihad has been verbally agreed to. €60 mil total package including add ons. I'm pretty disappointed by this since I really liked Diaby and was looking forward to how he was going to continue to improve for Villa. If he ends up loaned to Newcastle at any point, we need to burn the FA to the ground.

So Villa officially completed the Onana deal. Good bit of business.

I guess. I'm not so sure of that valuation for Onana, but I understand why Everton stuck to their guns. They need every farthing they can squeeze out of any deal. Who knows? He is seemingly a perfect fit for what Emery wants from him midfielders, and he's still young. He could well grow into it. At least he's not another one of those "free" transfers that you end up paying ridiculous weekly wages for and then can't move.

Arsenal signed defender Riccardo Calafiori from from Bologna for up to £42 million. He made his senior Italian National Team debut in this summer’s Euros, becoming the 2nd youngest player ever in the Euros for the Azzurri.

And he looked very good at the Euros. That one could be a bargain if he continues to grow into his game a bit.

Oh, and Emile Smith-Rowe is out, having been signed by Fulham. Good bit of business for Arsenal here.

A shame. Just as he was hitting his stride, injuries started piling up. And when Arteta changed from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3, he was a man without a defined position. But a nice profit for an academy product.

The Smith-Rowe transfer to Fulham is finally complete, it’s a club record transfer fee for Fulham. He signed a 5 year contract with an option for an additional year.

Tim Ream signs with Charlotte FC for an undisclosed fee. He’s under contract through 2026 with an option for 2027. He joined Fulham in 2015 and is one of only 30 players to play at least 300 matches for the club. He also played 125 matches for Bolton from 2011-15 after 2 seasons with New York Red Bulls.

Ream is a ridiculously under-valued player at home, almost entirely because his USMNT career overlapped with a couple of managers who badly miscast him as some sort of combo LB/CB, when he actually was just a badass do-it-all left side CB. Hopefully this retirement lap will be good for him.

Dominic Solanke cashes in. Happy for him.
