Summer 2024/January 2025 Transfer Thread

I think this Salah guy might be pretty decent. Interesting video from fourfourtwo on Liverpool's tactics during the pre-season and it was interesting that Salah was playing in a completely different style to how he has the entire time at Liverpool looking to stay wide and get to the touch line instead of cutting inside and looking to attack around the edge of the box.

I’ll have to check that out, they did a real great video about how ideal Solanke is for Ange’s system, that had me drooling.

Having Solanke on the end of Brennan Johnson’s low crosses into the box, have me pretty enticed as it is…..think those two have huge potential together.

That said, Kulusevski had 8.62 xA last year himself and was great in preseason (as a center forward mind you), so that battle for starting XI RW will be interesting…..and now Odobert can play over there too.

Several of the guys suggested that maybe Mo has figured out he's going to be more effective playing that way, and being more of a provider. He's 32 and has lost a step. I'm okay with him playing that way if we can get someone other than Diogo to consistently bang them in for us.

I though maybe the beginning was a carryover from advertising the 10:00 matches, there is a London Derby with Palace hosting West Ham. But then he says “crosstown rivals” and that theory went out the window. I know my English geography isn’t great but even I know that Birmingham isn‘t in Greater London.

Yeah, locals from both municipalities would 100% back you up on that. I remember a few years ago some clod on TSN in Canada managed to assert on air that Liverpool and Man City were "crosstown rivals" ... this would be up there with that.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have agreed a fee in the region of £36 million for the permanent transfer of forward Joao Felix. He played the last half of last season at Chelsea on loan. Atletico are taking a huge loss, they signed him from Benfica in 2019 for €126 million.

Chelsea and Atletico are working on a separate deal that would send Conor Gallagher to Spain.

What a ridiculous way to run a club.
Yep. Since the 2021-22 season, Chelsea has brought more than 40 players on transfers and sent out about the same number for which they received a fee, transfer or loan. In 2022-23, they brought in 25 players, either from transfers, loan or the end of a loan and sent out 25 players. But, they spent €630.25 million and made €67.86 million.

Speaking of the clown show at Chelsea ... now Raheem Sterling has joined Ben Chilwell in the group of 15(!) players training outside the main roster group. They're "willing" to take offers for Sterling, but seeing as how they paid 50 million pounds for him two years ago and have put him on massive wages, that's gonna be tough. Oh, and they also took away his number, which is fun. And this news comes hot on the heels of Chelsea selling Connor Gallagher off to Atletico and bringing in Joao Felix ... again ... so he can tool aimlessly around the midfield and get nothing done again, presumably. Gallagher and Chilwell both wore a captain's armband for the blues as recently as last season.

And once again ... with feeling ... what a ridiculous way to run a football club. If you or a loved one support this club, please seek help.

My hope is that we get to sign Felix on the cheap next year when they need to move him, or maybe even in January. Clown show is the only thing you can call it. I cannot believe the amount of pundits that are picking Chelsea to finish above Villa and plenty have them in the top four.

Ilkay Gundogan is returning to Man City from Barcelona on a free. He signed a 1 year contract with an option for another year.

Asmir Begovic was set for a medical at Everton ahead of a free. He last played last season for QPR. He’ll be the 3rd keeper.

He's still around? 😳 I swear the guy was playing when I first started to watch the Prem (04-05) on the newly minted Fox Soccer Channel

Pretty close. He was on Portsmouth’s books starting in 2005 but was sent out on loan multiple seasons and didn’t play for them until 2008-09. He didn’t become first choice until 2010-11 at Stoke. He played 46 matches for QPR last season at 36.
