Summer 2024/January 2025 Transfer Thread

Do you think his extension is lower? I'd assume it's actually higher. I assumed they realized that he was just going to play out the last year of his contract and walk with them getting nothing in return for him. He doesn't appear to be on that high of wages, capology has him at around 60k a week.
If it's not about budget, the the front office at Juve are just certifiable. And hey ... it's Serie A, so ...

It appears that Eddie Nketiah is headed to Crystal Palace from Arsenal for £25 million and £5 million in add-ons. Arsenal had rejected a similar offer from Palace earlier in the window. Arsenal had agreed on a fee with Nottingham Forest but Nketiah rejected the move. He had also agreed personal rms with Marseille but the clubs couldn’t agree a fee. He'd be the 4th academy graduate to head out this summer, following Arthur Okonkwo to Wrexham, Emile Smith-Rowe to Fulham and Charlie Patino to Deportivo La Coruna.

He’s a London guy, grew up there, spent 7 years in Chelsea’s academy, moved to Arsenal and spent 2 years in their academy before signing a contract. So if you can stay at a mid-table club a few miles from where you grew up instead of one that will be fighting relegation, why wouldn’t you?

Forgetting that, he just fits what Palace do on the pitch. They love to stretch wide and run guys through the seams and that's made for Nketiah's skill set. I'm not even sure how Forest are even trying to play game to game. Not sure they're sure either.

While meanwhile, Brighton are quietly improving their team

Very good get for Brighton. Not sure that they have an obvious need for another box to box midfielder, but O'Reily has been very, very good for Celtic the last couple of years. He's kind of a Frank Lampard, late arriving goal threat type, but much, much better defensively. Good kid ... he fought hard to battle back after he bailed on Fulham looking for a better contract that never came. He got his mess together and forced his way into an offer from MK Dons and never looked back. He was supposed to be a project when Celtic bought him for peanuts in a January window, but he basically grabbed a starting role straight away.

Midfield is/was one of our weaknesses. While we have replaced Caicedo to a point in Baleba, we were still lacking a true MacAllister replacement, and then this summer we lost Gross. Gilmour is there, but soon likely to be heading to Napoli, so getting O'Riley in is big and allows the Gilmour move to happen.

Having O'Riley in along with our signing of Gruda, will make for a good dynamic duo in the middle of the park.

We also have Milner, but lets be honest, he will be hurt at some point. One bright spot for us as been Yasin Ayari, a 20 year Swede who has looked amazing so far.

And we should be adding Ferdi Kadioglu as early as today for about 25-30 million, and he, like Pascal Gross was able to, can slot into multiple locations, on the backline and in the midfield.

UTA!

O'Riley is a pretty good like for like replacement for Gilmour ... a little better finisher, a little weaker defender, more physical in general. Very similar mindset.

And confirmed. Ferdi Kadioglu.

Brighton's brilliant transfer window as paid for mostly by Chelsea continues.

O'Riley in the lineup today for the Carabao Cup.

7 minutes in, a bad tackle by Crawley, and O'Riley is subbed out.

Hope its just a precaution....but it didn't look good at all.

I just don't understand Juve. They feel like another financial scandal waiting to happen. He's on decently high, but not insane wages and in the last year of his contract and the team has made it clear that he's not part of their plan this year, but even then, 10m seems pretty cheap.
