Tech Thread

I still can't quite comprehend just how dumb this guy is turning out to be. It's amazing, really. Instead of learning how wrong he is on certain issues, he keeps doubling and tripling down on bullshit.

 
If it wasn't for the war in Ukraine, I'd probably hang up my twitter account. The comments under everything from any of the doctors/virologists I follow who are speaking up in defence of Fauci just aren't something I want to subject myself to going forward.

The idiots are winning and Elon is their King.
 
Twitter was just so great, where people could interact with most of the world's top artists, doctors, politicians etc., along with so much hilarity and breaking news in real time, that I'm still hopeful Elon will figure this out eventually and stop trying to destroy it.

But I can't deny this is really disheartening. Trump created an army of idiots and misinformation that spread like a virus, and reality was (maybe) just starting to push back. But yeah, the idiots won on covid (to be fair this happened before Elon) and this is just making everything much, much worse.

At least we can look forward to the Tesla model Q soon.

Is it though? Twitter was a stable business/brand on the verge of profitability with a ~35B market cap just a few months ago.

Today it's gushing money and brand value by the millions daily. But yeah, many libs are being owned of course.

Trolling is great for attention, but the old adage that there's no bad publicity just isn't true and never has been.

Honestly, I think we've seen what we needed to. Advertiser flight to the point Elon is making individual phone calls to threaten tells us what we need to know. The plane has hit the building and we're watching the jet fuel melt the steel beams in real time. What comes next is physics.

it's a good test of whether these major social media platforms really are Utilities or not.
 
I mean even up to the last couple of days I was willing to concede that maybe part of this was due to trolling being good for business. If we are to believe Elon, Twitter's user base and # of interactions keep hitting record highs.

You could argue that, right or wrong, a lot of people on the right believe that Twitter leaned left, so he kissed up to them to energize them and get them more engaged. Then at some point he would make a few comments that pleased those on the left.

He certainly loves the attention he's getting, with the vast majority of it coming from the right.

His tweets are getting more and more delusional, and totally one-sided. It looks like he has been sucked into Q and the right wing Propaganda Bullshit Machine.
